3 Returns Completed!
on April 15, 2016

I lost data in the state sales tax when I entered numerous receipts into spread sheet for building materials. I even saved the return prior to leaving the page after entering data. I ended up using paper and pencil to add all receipts and then entered final numbers only in the program and did not use the spread sheet the pops up when double clicking the block.
All else went well. I did three returns. Two simple returns and one complex return that included sale of home, purchase of home, moving expenses, property taxes on two homes, interest paid on two homes, numerous donations to Goodwill (excess stuff from moving), itemized deductions, investments, retired, changed jobs (spouse), and major purchases (building materials) for state sales tax.
What's great about it: Nice step through tax preparation for experienced and inexperienced preparers
What's not so great: Lost data on State sales tax when I edited major purchases for building materials. Spread sheet failed.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

I do not like entering data on a web site. I prefer to download the software and work offline. I do not trust or like the "Cloud"/ I do not like logging into Microsoft or any web based software.. I was a little difficult to get to the downloading of software.
What's great about it: like the easy question and answer format
What's not so great: ask for my email too many times.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good Job!

I have used TurboTax for several years and love it.
What's great about it: Easy to use, helpful info through "Learn More" topics, TurboTax pretty much does it all.
What's not so great: Questions about pension RMD, expected lifetime return. My pension benefit doesn't vary from year to year.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

A trustworthy federal tax filing partner

I've used TT for many years and depend on it for accuracy and completeness of filing. It gives me comfort.
What's great about it: thoroughness and consistency with prior year format
What's not so great: e-filing was more demanding than before - concerned with spamming; lack of predictability of store discounts of TT.

Easier than ever before

I had used a CPA and Tax preparation service for many years due to owning my own home business. Long ago when Turbo Tax first came out, I had tried it with good success - but - with a considerable effort. I was delighted to discover that Intuit Turbo Tax had improved the program so much so over the past few years, that even a complete novice like me was able to easily navigate and complete every part of my returns. The program has improved vastly since I first tried it many years ago; I am now – and will be for a very long time to come – a very satisfied, happy and LOYAL Turbo Tax user!!
What's great about it: Questions are direct and easily understood. The assist you in every way possible to correctly complete your tax returns.
What's not so great: The only thing the program does not do for you is organize your home files throughout the year for tax filing.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Easy but a glitch in Idaho?
on April 15, 2016

Generally the federal portion was really easy. I would have liked to have been able to move around the form a little easier, but not a big deal.
What is a big deal is that Idaho has an education donation tax credit and turbo tax didn't give me a chance to enter that! That means I have to do my Idaho return manually. Not Happy!
Also when I saved to a PDF It told me there is an error in my state return but I ran the loop of final checks several times and it would not show me the error nor could I find it.Guess it doesn't matter since i have to fill out a state form manually to get the education credit.
What's great about it: Easy to use, walked me through it well
What's not so great: My major issue is with the Idaho State return. See review
