Solid Tax Return Preparation and Submission

TurboTax is a strong, efficient, accurate tool for preparing and filing tax returns. It is very easy to get up and running with it, especially if you begin by letting it import your prior year's tax return. I find it most helpful to let the program lead me through the entire process. It may take a bit longer, but I always learn more that way. As good as it is, there are some improvements i would like to see next year: less scrolling down the page to get to the next income or expense category, better links to IRS documents, better advance notice of all the information that will be needed for special forms so that I do not have to go through the same records multiple times (as happened with Form 2210 this year).
What's great about it: Excellent startup and guidance from end to end
What's not so great: Needs better links to IRS documents and less scrolling to change categories

I've used Turbo Tax for years without any issues. You're always prompted to update in case things change for the software. The software prompts you for everything and there are tools/resources within it to reach out for additional help and understanding if you get stuck. It does help to have a basic conceptual understanding of filing taxes. I learned by paying a qualified tax preparer the first few times, reviewing the forms and learning the basics before using software to file mine. And I have pretty basic taxes, nothing fancy like properties, businesses and capital gains, etc.
What's great about it: Walks you through every detail
What's not so great: non that impact the ability to accurately complete and file taxes

I use Turbo Tax every year, file my federal return electronically, and have never had a problem. I think Turbo Tax can help you not to make mistakes that you might make filing by hand. I recommend it.
What's great about it: It can be easy; it can be fun
What's not so great: It can be tedious; it can ask you questions you can't answer

Had to delete state and re-open it to correct a mistake in transferring a 1099-int form from fed return to state return

Worth it

I always want to know what goes on in my life and taxes is one of those things. Turbo Tax made it simple and easy for me to figure out my tax returns, what went in to them and what went on. Filing was a snap. For questions, the internet is your best friend.
What's great about it: Simple, easy to use, answers a click away
What's not so great: A bit time consuming.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Frustrating

I was really disappointed that I could not remove my request to have TurboTax represent me in case of an audit. I was locked in and was not allowed to change my mind!
What's great about it: Ease of forms
What's not so great: Can't e-file state return w/o fee

Just the right amount of help

Overall a good product to help households through the burdensome tax preparation process. Seems to be the right amount of questions to cover the basic issues, though it would be nice if we could bypass the clarification questions when we revisit a topic (such as revising the retirement contribution amount). I appreciate that the online help also provided guidance on less usual situations.
What's great about it: PDF printout options, choice to see forms or questions
What's not so great: Too many questions to return to a section, selecting a unique nickname for a review (stupid)
