- I really liked the fact that I can efile my fed for "free". (obviously I paid for the software)
- The step by step process for the most part went smoothly. It does allow you to skip sections and come back which is nice.
- The audit check feature does add some peace of mind (until you get audited I guess)
- There were many extra forms that printed that seemed unnecessary. This caused some confusion, but if the IRS needs to see them at a later time at least I'll have them.

Easy to get the taxes done

Overall Turbo Tax works quickly. I would like to have a column on the left of the screen to show where (what category) you are working on. I had to make a couple of adjustments because the category was lumped together with something else. If you could see "the future categories", it might be easier to get the data.
I love the information box across the top that shows taxes due or taxes refunded with deductions. Makes it pleasant to work knowing right away where you are.
Filing this year required driver's license information. Since nothing is secure, we now have two vital pieces of information attached to the files. Security has to be tight.
What's great about it: Automatic Departmentalized Questions
What's not so great: You don't know where you are in the process. Would be nice to have a small column showing which category you are in.

I completed my taxes in less than two hours and felt quite comfortable when I submitted -- with the submission not with the taxes I owed.

Preparing My Deceased Sister's Tax Return

My sister passed away March 25, 2016. As I was her POA until that date (and am now her executor) I have been filing her tax returns for several years. Turbo Tax accepted the date of her death and acknowledged that she is dead in most places, however, Turbo Tax marked the tax preparer as "self-Prepared". It also asked "Barbara" questions not me as tax preparer. I also have an IRS id number because I registered with the IRS when I began doing her returns. There was no input screen to make this info part of her return. I realize these issues are nit-picky but it costs time and effort to correct these errors. I programmed for many years so I understand effort involved to correct minor problems such as this. but give it some thought, OK?
What's great about it: Transferring Informatiom
What's not so great: Asked Questions as though my sister was preparing the return.

last minute life saver

I have used TurboTax for 2 years now. If i have all my documents ready, and I rarely do the first time I sit down, it would take maybe 2 hrs! I think it is great!
What's great about it: quick, easy, walked me through step by step

2015 refund

I think for the most part turbo tax works well. There seemed to be issues with the HC wk sheet not updating properly. I had to go the form to update it. The tax exempt items had the same issue. I have used turbo tax for years and this is the first year I could say I've had issues with items not working properly.
What's great about it: Easy to follow for most part.
What's not so great: HC worksheet did not seem to get updated. Tax exempt item kept asking for the State to be input after I had already don

trying to figure out how to file basic deductions to charity organizations was very hard and did best guess on how to enter things like uniforms for BSA, H&R Block was used last year and I will be going back to their program next year.
What's great about it: basic
What's not so great: hard time figuring out how to add expenses and uniforms
