Frustrated

Have used Turbo Tax for years and after last year's screw-up with the absence of schedule D in the deluxe edition I thought I'd try it one more time. Most went smoothly and well coached through out. However, my major issue occurred when I was reviewing my return while under time constraints to finish before I had other personal issues to attend to. In the step-by-step format, the program WOULD NOT LET ME VIEW / EDIT previously entered stock trades beyond #50. It would skip to the next step of the program. Thinking that some how my trades #51 to # 56 were lost, I reentered them. Fortunately in the forms format I was able to see that I had now duplicated my original entry of trades #51 to #56 and after much frustration was able to delete them in the forms format NOT CONFIDENT IN THIS PRODUCT
What's great about it: Fairly easy to use
What's not so great: Has some major negative issues
Pros: I bought or sold investments

RATE TURBOTAX 2015

This is the best way to do taxes, unless you're really unsure of yourself or your tax situation might be overly complex... then it helps to have a competent preparer to interact with. Only problem with preparers is that the window of time you have to work through all your questions is very limited or else they will charge a hefty sum to go into infinite detail with you. TurboTax, which I've used for at least six years, is always on top of things and if you're not afraid to read the optional info pop-ups they provide, it usually answers most questions. Trouble is, the U.S. tax code is so complex, circuitous and convoluted that we all need something like TurboTax to prevent loss of sanity! Also, I tried a popular, competing tax program, starts with "H" and ends with "R"... it didn't hold a candle to the ease and reliability of TurboTax. Thanks Intuit!
What's great about it: Pretty straightforward. Glad I don't have to go a preparer!
What's not so great: Logos should include tax year just to make sure you have the right disk.

Great Software Program, but disc only, no code

I had tried HR Block this year for the first time. I had always used Turbo Tax in the past, but I thought I would give it a shot. It was so confusing! So I went back to Turbo Tax. That being said, I had already finished filing online, I just needed to pay for it. I needed Turbo Tax Deluxe. Well I knew I could get it at the store for cheaper than online so I purchased the program. I figured I could use the access code like HR Block. It didn't come with one! I had to redo my taxes using the CD Disc that came with it after I had already finished doing them! In the end it didn't take me too long, but it was inconvenient.
What's great about it: I love how simple and easy to use it is, way better than HR Block!
What's not so great: Only a disc came in the package, no code
Pros: I moved

Removal of services irritated this long-time user

I have been using TurboTax for over a decade and appreciate how much help and support TurboTax provides for one going through the complicated preparation when one has to calculate deductions and fill out a Schedule C. However, for every year for as long as I remember, TurboTax deluxe has included a free filing for one state so I just assumed that was the case again this year. I was unpleasantly surprised when TurboTax indicated I would have to pay for preparing my state return through TurboTax especially given how little extra would be required of the TurboTax program after having the Federal return completed. Obviously, if I was considering an alternative product, I would have looked to confirm the state filing was included, but I "relied" on TurboTax to not change this important part of the product. Now I know that I can't simply assume that TurboTax will not make major changes to its product that will negatively affect purchasers. I now will have to examine TurboTax carefully each year to make sure significant negative changes have not occurred. So much for brand loyalty.
What's great about it: TurboTax does a very good job of taking one step by step for preparing one's taxes
What's not so great: TurboTax removed one free State tax filing that a long-time user would have simply assumed was included when buying.

Schedule C Issues
on April 14, 2016

I had need for three Schedule C's. Line 6a. Step 1, Add Car & Truck Expense Worksheet. NEXT button didn't work. I got around it and got the taxes done BUT it was frustrating!
What's great about it: Goes line by line in 1040
What's not so great: Schedule C challenging - some buttons didn't work
