What's not so great: Sometimes mailed tax info doesn't have info (or its wrong) they shold have put on the info sent

I've been using TurboTax for many years and really like it. This year, however, my tax situation changed (husband retired) and I found the online help wasn't quite as helpful regarding retirement income as most of the other help is - I kept getting directed to other pages, schedules, topics. Also the way a 1099-Misc for non-compensation income was handled this year was much more difficult/different than last year. I'm not sure if this is because of new regulations or if it was a software thing. Overall I still really like the program and will continue using it.
What's great about it: The ease of moving through deductions and other categories
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

MUST STILL FILE A RETURN

IT'S VERY EASY TO USE AND ONCE YOU FILE YOUR TAXES BY THIS METHOD EACH YEAR, IT CAPTURES DATA FROM YOUR LAST RETURN SO IT SAVES TIME AS WELL. IT ALSO GIVES YOU A 3 YEAR HISTORY IF LIKE TO KNOW THAT KIND OF STUFF AND YOUR ACTUAL TAX % YOU ARE PAYING. REALLY HELPS WHEN YOU RETIRE AND NO LONGER HAVE A W-2. THERE ARE OTHER TIME SAVERS, BUT I DON'T REALLY USE THEM.
What's great about it: MY RETURN ISN'T OVERLY COMPLICTED SO IT COVERS MY NEEDS
What's not so great: IT TAKES A LITTLE EXTRA TIME TO ASSEMBLE THE INFO NEEDED TO E-FILE, BUT THAT COULD BE BECAUSE OF THE FRAUD ASSOCIATED W

So Easy

I could not do my taxes myself without this help. The import feature of 1099's is terrific- so easy.
What's great about it: Thorough, easy to understand
What's not so great: can't see last year's notes anymore

Peace of Mind

I have been using Turbo Tax for years now. It is thorough and easy for me to use in spite of having "computer speak" as a second language. I like it when it 'checks for errors' at the end. When the results shows "no errors", I feel my muscles relax and my headache disappear.
What's great about it: I have confidence that my tax retun is correct.

Overall very good. Problems not dealbreakers

I keep coming back to TurboTax (desktop version) for its accuracy, consistent interface and time-saving imports from last year's return. It is a very good product. I have used TurboTax for 15+ years except for one year's mediocre experience with a competitor.
My biggest complaint is that a few capabilities in the Deluxe version have been removed while the next higher version contains a lot of stuff that I will never need. Not a problem this year but we'll see about next year. Inflation happens and I'd rather pay a little more for a consistent product.
Other minor items: We contribute to 40+ charities and the TurboTax list can't be alphabetized. Frustrating to search through the list to find each charity! The good news is that last year's list gets imported, which saves a lot of typing.
Paper use: The TurboTax print dialog on my Mac only allows for one page range in each print. All other programs that I use allow multiple ranges. This means going through the print dialog 4 or more times when I'm printing selected pages for my wife to review--or wasting trees. This should be really easy to fix.
Overall, TurboTax remains my first preference. Still, a very good product could be even better.

What's not so great: Deluxe version has had capabilities removed. Can't alphabetize charitable contributions. Hard to control paper use.

Simple and complete

Turbo Tax is a good working program. I know some folks who are self employed aren't getting all they need with Deluxe and I really hope Turbo Tax fixes that for next year. A lot of self employed/small businesses struggle to make ends meet. I think Small business/self employed need that little break of getting all they need by using Turbo Tax Deluxe! Hope you're listening Turbo Tax, be the best!
What's great about it: Easy navigation, all the forms I need and lots of help screens. Also I can save my return in PDF and print.
What's not so great: Can't really think of any.
