Tough with AMT

User is left to figure out adjustments for AMT rather than getting guided through it. Doesn't even provide reference info.
The program has information on what deductions or credits were limited or disallowed yet when prompted to enter these items from prior years as carryovers the user is expected to find this data and enter it manually.
Mortgage information including points being amortized over life of the loan are not carried over from prior returns.
These are very time consuming tasks that I would think would not be that difficult to incorporate into the program. I've been a long time customer but if these elements are not addressed next year I'll be looking elsewhere.
What's great about it: Flexibility, auto highlighting form lines, import options, summaries
What's not so great: AMT, deduction limit carryovers, mortgage point amortization

Use every year

I always use Turbo Tax as it's fast and easy to answer the questions and less expensive than having my taxes prepared. The only caveat is to be sure and look over the actual forms if you are at all familiar with doing your own taxes. Occasionally I have run into errors when I double check the forms. They are fairly easy to correct--I just go over the section again or change the information directly on the form.
What's great about it: Easy to answer questions
What's not so great: Makes occasional errors

I really like Turbo Tax, but found it difficult to figure out how to delete information it was asking for during the quick zoom forms. I finally figured it out, but it took me quite awhile. Having "how to delete" instructions would have been time saving.

K1 Hellp

Program needs more guidance on when to import TXF files. Imports of K1 TXF files become very confusing if there are multiple entries in boxes 1,2,3.
What's great about it: Brings in last years info well, handled rental property well.
What's not so great: K1 TXF imports need work. Not "intuit"-ive to use.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

What's great about it: Very easy to use and follow the instructions. Any questions were easilylooked up and answers given.
What's not so great: Printing wasted paper, only need copy of 1040.

Great Time and Sweat Saver for a person like me

I have been relying totally on the program for good part of my life, and now I rely on it for the foreign filing with foreign income exclusion for more than 10 years about which not many are familiar with and could help me especially where I am now. Especially the electronic filing is great from here (when it works.) But the program is so sensitive that a minor non-consequential error or program bug can bog down one at the last minute. The program can improve a lot by adding some artificial intelligence. I found the program cannot be purchased electronically from outside the US. I had to have someone purchase the program disc in the US and mail it to me. Also, it is impossible to get the program price or filing fee reimbursed when the program could not be downloaded or the electronic file does not work and the tax could not be filed.
What's great about it: Easy to use for a complicated situation through only an interview
What's not so great: But if one follows it just blindly, one can make a big mistake. Electronic filing is very convement, but....
