So much better than doing it by hand

I have used Turbotax for several years now -- at least ten. Some years it is easier to use and less buggy then others. This year was just a little worse than average. We always have a little trouble separating investment income into "his" and "hers" because we both have accounts at the same firm and the accounts are identified only by the firm name. We usually manage to figure it out, and this year was no exception.
The first problem was when Turbotax got into an infinite loop doing calculations. After letting it churn for 10 minutes, I called the Turbotax Help Line. I was told to save the file (which it would do in spite of the looping) and Force Quit, which I did. I was assured that it would still be correct. There was a second occurrance of the same thing, but thankfully no more.
In doing EasyStep in the Misc. Deductions area, it refused to take my Tax Prep fees. I could select the field, but it would not accept any numbers. Double-clicking on the field did not help, nor would "Override". Later, when I was reviewing the forms (which I always do, to satisfy myself that the numbers I input ended up in the right places), I thought maybe I could input the Tax Prep there. Selecting the field didn't help but double-clicking brought up a supplemental statement with last year's numbers in it. There, I could correct the values. Problem solved.
I will most likely use Turbotax again next year, because I understand most of its quirks and because the option to transfer so much information from the previous year is quite helpful. I hope it is less buggy next year. Usually it performs well without doing things like that. I figure it doesn't do any worse than competing programs.
What's great about it: EasyStep takes you through everything (as far as I know), so you should not miss any steps or deductions.
What's not so great: EasyStep would not take my Tax Prep Expense number. Turbotax twice got into an infinite loop doing calculations.

Fed Good, State Skimpy

No complaints with Federal. Seems to me with State I should expect more for what i paid for it. I teach in Jersey - Lots of W2 Box 14 entries perhaps not seen in most states. They can have an impact on your bottom line if you don't interpret or use them right (Sec 125, 414(H) etc). TT State provided little to no guidance or advice. Disappointing.

The Least Favorite TurboTax to Date

Might have been an XP Pro issue but it also did not pick up data from last years report as other years have always done. Same PC and OS as ever.
Next year will be doing this on a MacBook Pro presuming TurboTax has a version for that?

What's great about it: You can move around, back and forth...
What's not so great: Loaded very slow, did not check auto for updates, froze up on several occasions

Awesome Service!

Using Turbo Tax was very simple to do and I felt like I saved a lot of time! I would certainly use this product again next year, last year it took me a lot longer to fill out all the paperwork by hand. Inuit Turbo Tax is awesome!
What's great about it: Quick and Easy!
What's not so great: No Cons at all!

So Easy

I've had many friends change to Turbo Tax and they love it.
What's great about it: I've been using Turbo Tax for many years; so accurate, so easy, will continue to use.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

No Colorado county entry provided for Broomfield

I live in Broomfield County Colorado. This county has existed since about 1998 but in the 2015 version of TurboTax there is no entry in the county tax tables for Broomfield County.
I would have thought that TurboTax could have updated its database on this period of time. I hope that you are move current with the changes to the tax laws.
What's great about it: Could not enter my data
What's not so great: Had to guess that one of the other counties would work OK

the call up support was indispensable. I would not be able to continue to use TurboTax if I couldn't call one of your experts to guide me on how to input a new situation. The representatives that helped me, knew TurboTax very well and guided me on how to apply it to my information

Great software, Easy
