Turco Tax

I like the idea that turbo tax takes my information from the previous year and fills in the blanks. Saves time. I also like the way it take me through all tax deductions if I chose and transfers all info to State forms. As in pros, fast easy and efficient.
What's great about it: fast easy efficient.

As Always, Easy to Use

Have used Turbo Tax for 15 years, I like the fact I can learn so much with all the information provided with each section. Not quite sure about something? Just click on the blue link to learn more-it's great! Especially if I want to get extra tax breaks next year all I have to do is read what is acceptable or not. AND with the changes in family due to kids moving from adolescence into college I have really learned a lot.
The only problem with this years return is that it didn't go to my state return to confirm address and school district info-I was halfway to transmitting return and it stopped because that information had not been filled in. I had to backtrack before filing. But in that respect TurboTax saw that those needed to be filled in so it flagged those areas. Saved me filing an incomplete return!
What's great about it: W2 import great, auto prefill in from previous year's return handy
What's not so great: Slight glitch with state return

Great Tax Software

Very easy to use. The software walks you through the process with easy to understand language. If you have your tax documents at hand, you can easily finish and file your taxes very quickly.
What's great about it: Very easy to use. The software walks you through the process with easy to understand language.
What's not so great: Paying to electronically file the state return.

Needs Code Update

I used TurboTax 2015 desktop version on a Mac. I ensured all updates were done and validated. There is an issue accessing the secure online store. This means one cannot purchase an additional state or successfully go through the purchase of e-filing a state return. In my case, the Mac support line verified my issue with their own Mac -- hopefully the Turbotax coders will find and rectify this issue quickly via an update, else there will be many unsatisfied customers and calls to the contact center. I had to have them give me a download on my online account for the additional state -- which worked. I needed to call again and pay by phone for the state e-file. The good news is, it e-filed my Fed and State returns with the pay by phone code. So, I was able to file. This is a major code issue, however, that requires immediate attention by TurboTax.
What's great about it: Program itself is quick, efficient, and accurate
What's not so great: Code issues

Another good year

So easy. But this year for the first time in many years, had trouble the program seem to stumble. I am using Windows 10 with a new computer, so could be the problem. I still have confidence with the program and think it is the best on the market. fd

MISSED EXEMPTION

NYS allows a $20K exemption on retirement payments(IBM) and an additional full exemption on Military retirement payments. That Defense Finance 1099R show up in the list of 1099-Rs, but was not included in NYS calculations,
