Saved Time and Money

This application is very user friendly. We had always used TurboTax before last year. The processing fee was very high with no added benefit. We came back to trusty TurboTax.
What's great about it: Easy to follow, Quick, Very Thorough question to ensure correct filing as well as determining a valid return
What's not so great: Nothing

Convenient, Cheap, and Trusted

Great product- I can trust my returns are done right. I am a CPA and used to fill and file paper returns on my own, mostly because I had the training and did not want to pay for software and service that I could do myself. TurboTax doing all of the automatic calculations makes it far easier and well worth the price. The product could be improved to be faster to use if the responses and "continue" and "back" buttons were all close together and in the same location as where the mouse pointer is positioned when a screen opens.

Return for deceased
on April 13, 2016

Capital Gains do not apply if the stock is sold after the death occurs -- I.e., stock is liquidated on December 16th death occurs on December 14th..Capital Gains are mitigated by step up basis as of 12/16
Form 1310 instructions state not necessary if court appointed executor or administrator then later an error pops-up that states an error exists. the instructions are very confusing and I decided to simply fill our form 1310 and mail with return.,
What's great about it: generally OK -- but handles Capital Gains poorly
What's not so great: Generally Ok -- but handles form 1310 poorly

eFiling Fees Are Steep
on April 13, 2016

While the convenience of doing the returns electronically are great, the cost of e-filing versus buying a stamp are ridiculous. At this point, Intuit is ripping off the public by charging such steep fees for the privilege of getting one's refund a few weeks faster. Having said that, I begrudgingly paid. But still feel violated.
What's great about it: Convenient
What's not so great: Expensive to e-File

Makes tax prep easy for routine returns.
If there's anything out of the ordinary you must go to the Forms and handle the matter manually.
What's great about it: Simple, quick
What's not so great: $25 to efile State return
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I still think this program is the best.
What's great about it: Great program I've used for many years
What's not so great: fileing this year was a joke, it took me 4 days to do the last step
