Outstanding!

This is my 10th year to use Turbo Tax. I keep thinking that it's just too complicated but every year I am pleasantly surprised and secure that I have submitted the correct information.
What's great about it: Guides you through each step
What's not so great: Hard to file items on menus
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Changes for Better and Worse....

If I was certain that online files and databases were secure, including from the company sponsoring it, I wouldn't care if I filled out the forms online. But online/cloud software isn't secure. And too many companies datamine their own customers so even if an outside hacker isn't getting the information you don't know that the company isn't.
As far as ease of use, it was pretty straightforward, but my returns are pretty simple. No children, one mortgage, and my stocks are all 401K. Not much to go wrong. Maybe there was an easy way to do this, but a couple of times I needed to look up information, and I found that jumping back forced me to re-click through pages I had already answered. The answers were still there, but I still had to click to accept them again. There are a few 'why do they do it that way' questions as well. The software saved my bank information from last year as far as what account I would use to pay any taxes. But it doesn't save the account to deposit any refunds I may have. Why save one and not the other? If it's not safe then don't save either. And I feel that i'm playing a mobile game with all the in-app purchase questions that are now scattered throughout the program. Nothing drastically wrong or difficult, but each year a few more ad irritations are added making me less satisfied with the product. ***Just tried posting this review and found another complaint. My nickname was too short (3 letters). Why do you care how many letters? There are lots of people with 2 and 3 letter names or nicknames. As long as it isn't an insult or racial I don't know why you have any minimum requirement.
What's great about it: Entries were pretty straightforward.
What's not so great: Intuit is pushing, HARD, to get you to use the online version.

Had to pay but no grief!

Turbo Tax (TT) makes it all so simple, with no bureaucratic mumbo jumbo. with all kinds of help to step you through your tax preparation speedily. TT transfers information from previous years, and guarantees all calculations based on your input, which often can be downloaded direct to TT from Intuit's business partners, untouched by human hand! TT's simple and straightforward menus and questions with all kinds backup help and tax discussions takes all the heartburn out of tax preparation. I estimate tax prep takes only about a quarter of the time it used to before TT, and at the end of it I am still sane, which was questionable before TT. TT has my unreserved recommendation.
What's great about it: Transfers information from previous years, guaranteed calculations simple and straightforward menus and questions.
What's not so great: None (except I had to pay...)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2015 TurboTax

Stable Platform with little change year to year.
Don't like the confusion trying to determine I need an upgrade just because I sold stock or mutual funds.
Also, am bothered by all the extra Al LA Carte for protection of this and that. Also the fees at the end are outrageous. TurboTax is free for Federal Submitting as long as you are getting a refund. I am too frugal to pay extra money for filing.
What's great about it: Stable Platform with little change year to year
What's not so great: Don't like the confusion trying to determine I need an upgrade just because I sold stock or mutual funds.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I've used TurboTax for over a decade and expect to continue for another. It takes so much of the anguish out of this unpleasant task. Every year there are some improvements to both the functionality and the user experience. It seemed like the instructions and help information were better than ever this year.
What's great about it: TurboTax makes it simple to file. I like the improvements with each year.
What's not so great: Nothing

Had dificulty with some tax situations
on April 12, 2016

The basics are done well such as entering income and deductions. I had a situation where I had to fill in Form 5329 and I couldn't find it. Eventually I found it and filled it in. The waiver statement was very difficult to fill in. The statement wouldn't automatically wrap around. Then there is no method to attach a PDF to the return so I had to file by mail in order to attached a letter and documents to support the waiver of the additional tax. Then because I had to file the Federal return by mail I couldn't file the NYS tax electronically and had to file it on paper by mail. NYS requires returns prepared on Turbo Tax to be filed electronically. Finally, the program had a problem with a conversion of my traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. I took a while but it eventually accepted the transaction so the conversion was treated as non-taxable as it should have been.
What's great about it: everntually finished the return
What's not so great: didn't handle form 5329 or IRA conversion well
