The fact that I got a (hefty) refund helped. Last year I paid in because I didn't have enough withholding taken out. (New to Social Security + State Retirement)

Pay enough for the tax software. The state e-file fee costs to much.

I have used Turbo Tax for ten plus years and have found it to be quick and accurate as far as I can tell ....(it is hard to keep up with what Congress changes each year for the little tax payer), Turbo Tax seems to have this covered . My Daughter and Son-in-law have also used Turbo Tax and found it works just as well for them ....
What's great about it: Easy to follow prompt's ....accurate information ....low cost as compared to using generally advertised tax prepareers .
What's not so great: added cost for filing state returns .....simple audit's cost should be included as a service

Very good program
What's great about it: The whole format is very easy to use and thorough. No need for a tax pro if you have simple tax return

Form Input Access & Accuracy 1095-A, 1116, 8962

Just spent 40 minutes on phone with IRS after receiving ltr. that my 1040 return was missing 8962 which TT failed to print because it also lost two attempts to manually input 3 1095-A forms. Next. I had to spend 6 more hours recreating a full input of all data to see if the corrupted or defective prior old saved file could be overcome to establish clean account for reference next year. TT cost me frustration and far too much extra manual time originating from its internal errors or defects.
What's great about it: none due to overriding defects
What's not so great: Program failed to auto save inputs for 1095-A, & then print 8962 as req'd
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TRIED TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS AND USED HR BLOCK SOFTWARE LAST YEAR...BIG MISTAKE. SWITCHED BACK TO TURBOTAX THIS YEAR AND EVERYTHING WENT FINE.

What's not so great: SOFTWARE COST
