All good but RITA

I have been using TurboTax for quite a few years now. I still enter wages manually, and other information. City taxes was problematic due to the fact that we live in a RITA municipality, and work in a non RITA municipality. It was not clear how to enter these amounts, and hopefully it was entered correctly. It seems right, but will compare to RITA site
What's great about it: Previous years information is imported, leaving less manual entries.
What's not so great: RITA not clear

don't understand why can't deduct medical. once your have everything together, it is real eazy. it takes me longer to get it printed and pay than to do my taxes.

IRS Sources

I find TurboTax easy to use and quick. However, this ease of use also separates my from reading the actual IRS documents that define the requirements. Your ease of use has made my lazy and semi-ignorant. I would like to be able to hyperlink directly to IRS documents that provide instructions for completing the topics/forms that Turbo Tax is currently walking me through so that I can go to the source for my own better understanding of the rules. The pop-up windows in Turbo Tax are useful to determine if I care about an item, but aren't good if I do care and want to better understand the topic. Before Turbo Tax, I always used the instruction books and had a much better understanding of the tax rules. I have lost that. (Of course, the increasing complexity of our tax laws doesn't help in that regard.) While I can't be certain how long I have been using Turbo Tax, I am certain that it has been at least 15 years.
What's great about it: Ease of use, automatic recalculation, walk-through process
What's not so great: Separation from actual IRS rules and instructions; also, estimated tax auto prep is annoying
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Glad to be through

I have used Turbo tax for a number of years and previously have been very satisfied with the product. Starting with the changes made the prior two years I have found the product not to be user friendly. Also prior to the changes you could complete a return if you understood the tax law. Now you are constantly asked to upgrade your product. I allow my relatives to use the other free filing that comes with the purchase of the software. We hade to pay a fee twice. I am no longer satisfied with turbo tax and think that next year I will use another software.
What's great about it: Forums
What's not so great: Finding what you need is so hard
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Have used TurboTax for the Mac since 1994 (back then, the Mac version was called "MacInTax"). Still the best value!
What's great about it: Predictable, reliable - with lost of help available!

As easy as the Income Tax can be

The printed return is 38 pages if I sent a printed return due to my diversified portfolio. Could not do it without Turbo Tax. The ability to download from my financial advisor saved hours of data entry. Recommend highly.
What's great about it: Good questions
What's not so great: Can be slow
