Walk me through everything
on April 11, 2016
Posted by: dandydavein
Specific issues are with the Car and Truck Expenses Worksheet. Data and information were input following the guided question/answer format of 'Walk me through everything.' The data information was provided during 'question/answer' for the following Car and Truck Expenses Worksheet lines 4c, 5 and 6 relating to miles driven and lines 10,11,12, 13 a, 13b, 15 and 16 relating to vehicle use and supporting data availaility. Discovered this when error review was performed. Since the information did not carry into to the Worksheet it could not carry into Form 4835 properly. Had to go to the Worksheet and input the required information to get Form 4835 populated properly.
Believe had same sort of issue for TY2014 but did not report it. Thought it to be prudent that I did for TY2015.
Have used Turbo Tax for 19 years, which gives one an idea of what I thought/think of the product. Getting a little disturbed about the creeping cost to buy the software. Have looked to covert to H&R Block tax software #used it one year several years ago# but keep reisisting due to my like for Turbo Tax. Will rethink that if costs continue to rise.
What's great about it: Excellent job of leading one through inputting tax situations
What's not so great: Does not carryover some answers provided to forms/worksheets

I give Jennifer A's four interaction when I had a problem filing my federal tax. She was wonderful. I have been using Turbo for many years and will continue to do so as long as I have to file both federal and state taxes.
What's great about it: Outstanding assistance and information
What's not so great: See above
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Complication
on April 11, 2016
Posted by: Lester1234
Overall, more complicated probably because of extra security requirements. For some reason, I could not pull up the previous year and had to go from scratch. I bought my T. Deluxe on line for the first time instead of purchasing locally, so maybe next year I'll buy local again. At least I won't have to pay extra for my state even though I had the Deluxe Edition. It's still the best way to file.
What's great about it: Thorough and clear instructions.
What's not so great: Bought Deluxe on line and obviously was sent wrong state, so I had to pay extra for my state (SC) after paying for Delux

95% Worked Like a Charm
on April 11, 2016

I guess put your faith in god and TurboTax. After looking at my finished forms I don't have a clue what most of it means. This has to do with the data pulled directly from the financial institutions I do business with. It's all a mystery to me so I'm counting on TurboTax to have gotten it right. They always have in the past.
What's great about it: The feature that lets you pull data right from financial institutions is genius.
What's not so great: I could not find a way to change a mistake on my state tax form for personal property taxes
Pros: I bought or sold investments
