Home Office Woes

Home Office Deduction. Could NOT remove the extra 8829 to get rid of the error. Looked up solutions online, none worked, finally removed the office deduction which cost me more than $400 extra on my return. Not happy about that!

I've used TurboTax for years and will continue to do so in the future. Maybe it should be called Tax Returns for Dummies because it's so easy to use.

Encountered Some Technical Issues

Great guided process to file return. I would have preferred to find out at the outset that our son was required to file a separate return because he had earned income and a corresponding W-2. I'm running Windows 10 on my ASUS laptop. On several different days/occasions, TurboTax got hung up/froze in the update process. This wasted a lot of time. When preparing to file my return, it again froze in the update window. After restart, TurboTax indicated that it was already open/being used by a different user and wouldn't start. After several more restarts, TurboTax finally unfroze and updated.

Concern

My 2014 return was not accepted because someone stole my identity. OK, so I lost what I spent to file my state return. I had to jump through many government hoops to finally finish filing. However, I received a letter from the IRS with a code I was told would be needed to e-file this year. The letter said that my tax software would ask for that code at the appropriate time. I just finished filing and the subject of this special code never came up. Maybe it will prior to acceptance, but I have no guarantee of this, This leaves me concerned.

Nice software, but some constructive criticism...

There are some fields like loss carryovers and such that are not automatically filled in. I've been using TurboTax for years, all my returns are in the same folder, yet you guys can't figure that out? Things like that make me consider an accountant. Hopefully you can fix that next year.

2016 Fed/State

I have used Turbo Tax software for my taxes for over 10 years. I greatly prefer it to working through the Fed and State tax forms that come to you through the mail.
I believe that Intuit's Turbo Tax software is well worth the purchase price. I recommend it to any one who can use the "simple" Fed. 1040 form and its State equivalent.
What's great about it: I like the complete run down of all possible entry and deduction screens.
What's not so great: I foud the State form hard to adjust as a seperate form.
