user friendly taxes

Good comparisons as going along with previous year. Sometimes there were questions (i.e: you left out this code/number such as school district code), but there was no hint as to where to go to find out what it was. I miss the little videos that explain things a little better and the hints that used to be on Turbotax. It made it more user friendly for those of us who only look at financial things once a year. All in all I would purchase this program again as it is one of the best for breaking down the items and making taxes do-able. I don't think I could do it any other way!
What's great about it: makes tax returns user friendly
What's not so great: not thorough in explanations for the non-financial mind

Mostly very easy

Mostly no problem. Asked a bunch of new questions this year in keeping with the law changes. Added some nice steps before filing to verify identity. ID theft is a big concern and seems to be on the increase. So good there.
There were a couple areas, especially in the MN state return where it was very confusing. (1) portions where we had to add back in some federal deductions not allowed on state. The help file did not match the program at all. (2) The military reserve pay questions are confusing. Easy to put the wrong thing and get the state return rejected or returned with a big adjustment. Seems like the question writers may not really understand the state law for reserve pay.
Otherwise, very nice. easy to use. Wouldn't do it any other way.

What's great about it: Step by step. Asks questions. Don't need to read tax code.
What's not so great: Sometimes can be confusing. Online help may not match latest version.

Team Effort

My wife and I input the tax return information as a team. I installed the software (I am a IT Desktop Support Technician) and verified our personal information and began input the W-2's. I had an errand to run, so I asked my wife to finish the inputs. She was able to finish the rest of the income information and many of the deductions. We finished resolving these when I came back (finding the necessary documentation), and then I completed the filing of the refunds.
What's great about it: Ease of Install. Ease of use.

Extra Convenient

had to enter residency dates at the error check phase of my Ohio return. I would have expected to be guided through that as a default.
What's great about it: quick and easy, breezed through the submission process

It was EZ

I file the 1040 w/individual and business deductions, the electronic import function pulls all my information directly. So I end up simply verify the data looks correct and hitting submit.
TurboTax imports W-2s, bank & investment data, previous tax filings and output from other software tools link ItsDeductible. For the few places where an import file was not available or applicable, TurboTax provided helpful links to sites that guided me to locating the data.
Another great feature was comparing this year's filing with last year's to make sure I didn't forget anything .
What's great about it: Finished in under 2 hrs with a refund
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
