Thank God I'm finished!

I can see that the more consecutive years I use Turbo Tax the easier it will become for me to complete my return. I e-filed last year and was very pleased with the results, so I e-filed again this year. I may even get enough confidence in Turbo Tax so that I stop doing it manually as well! Oh well, I guess that is the engineer in me.
What's great about it: The way it was able to fill in all of my info from the 2014 return and retrieve my brokerage/mutual fund account info.
What's not so great: It was not able to retrieve one set of data from one of my accounts. Said invalid PW/ID.

I like that the product lets me make detailed comparisons to last year's filing. It even showed how badly Tarrant County under taxed me due to a software glitch; the story has been big news locally, since they will have to jack up our rates for 2016 to make up the difference.
I can't say enough about the hand-holding. It is not intrusive, but I consider it an important feature for accounting challenged people like me!
What's great about it: Detailed help, like sitting down with a trusted CPA
What's not so great: None regarding TurboTax. However, the U.S. Tax Code sucks from here to Peru...

So Easy!

We sold our home last year. Should have been better prepared documentation-wise. Everything from the original date of purchase to all the "extras" we added to the property throughout the years. We technically broke even but I needed some old paperwork to figure all that out. Ended up living in an apartment until the new house was built. Only just moved in this past month (March '16). Highly recommend to any homeowner keep all that "old" paperwork on every addition or improvement you make on your home...you'll need it.
I prefer TurboTax. Makes my tax filing a breeze!
What's great about it: I prefer the step-by-step. Lets me follow the process of income and deductions with ease.
What's not so great: I stumbled over the Home Sale piece.

help with a form 8396

I needed help with form 8396, the form would not let me put in the percentage, and would not let me go any further I have no idea how I got on the form, in the first place, but once I got there your tax help was awful. It would have been nice to place a form that is filled out as well as instruct your customers on how it would look and what information should be put on the form. That would have solved the questions on how to use the form. Thanks a lot for nothing because I probably could have use the form to get some of the interest rate I paid on my mortgage.

Long time user would not even think of switching to a competitive product. Maintains basic entries from year to year to minimize typing it all in again.
What's great about it: Transfer entries from year to year
What's not so great: Asks about additional cost services like audit protection

I had a difficult time figuring out how to download a revision from It's Deductible website into TT. Had to use Google to find result. Could not find it in TT Help function.
Also, often get confused about cost basis on spousal regular IRA. Not sure if it will carry over from prior year or needs to be entered again, base on wording of questions
What's great about it: Like TT keeping track of my historical data
What's not so great: some navigating through TT is confusing
