Always easy to input and use turbo tax. Nice to be able to figure out different scenarios throughout the year.
What's great about it: Information transfers over year after year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Review of Turbotax 2016

I had to file both VA and PA returns for my son, who lived in both states during the year. The VA return was fine. But the mechanism for apportioning income on the PA return was not user friendly. It kept wanting to count his full year's income rather than asking me to apportion the income for the part of the year he was living there. I had to do this manually and re-enter the data.
What's great about it: Very easy to use with detailed explanations where necessary.
What's not so great: State e-filing is too expensive, particularly where I'm filing multiple returns for my family members.

SC State Tax Issues
on April 10, 2016

My wife and I lived outside of the US, while retaining SC residency. We moved back to the US, but to a different state so we filed part year SC residency. We could not file until we indicated on the SC NR form that one of us had actually resided in SC for part of the year, even though we had not.
What's great about it: was easy to fill out
What's not so great: Wouldn't accept correct residency status
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Very frustrated with the state return. Continuously gets rejected and unable to find/fix what is wrong. If it doesn't go this time, I will have to print it off and mail it.... How do I get reimbursed for what it cost me to do my "free" state return? I have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years.....this is the first problem I have had.
What's great about it: easy to fill out
What's not so great: had difficulty sending my Ohio return by email. Paid extra for this and keeps getting rejected.
