Fast and Easy

All's Well that Ends Well

I've used Turbo Tax for years (at least 10) and have usually had a great experience. But this year it couldn't find my previous year's tax file to pull in data. It was a little cumbersome to have to key everything in again and then answer all the questions about what I did last year. I guess I'm spoiled!
Also, the Form 40N did not help in determining what percentage of income to claim. I know I don't have to claim income earned while working from my home state, but I don't know how to calculate the dollars since it is all on one W2. It just asked how much was earned in the taxing state, so I just claimed it all to be safe. I suspect I lost some money.
What's great about it: Detailed walk through helps you remember everything
What's not so great: Couldn't find last year's return to pre-populate and check for things that might have been missed this year.

Excellent Product

TurboTax again made doing my taxes less stressful. I really like all the great questions while doing the deduction part of the return. I am confident when I am finished that my return is as complete as possible and without error.
What's great about it: Quick and easy
What's not so great: sometime difficult to back out of

TT2016 - Not As I Remembered

When I last used TurboTax (haven't used it for quite some time#, I recall it ranking my personal charitable giving as compared to the national average for my income level. That was a great feature. Also, in HR Block #used it last year), I was able to put descriptions against my cash deductions so that it was easier for me to do a cross reference. Wish TurboTax had this feature.
What's great about it: Ease of Use
What's not so great: Can't Use Descriptions for Cash Donations

Errors in downloading ItsDeductible: BE CAREFUL

Re-importing ItsDeductible moved some transactions from one charity to another, and lost one completely. I had to carefully review each transaction after downloading, and manually correct errors. THIS DOES NOT INSPIRE CONFIDENCE that my taxes are being handled correctly. I printed the ItsDeductible, and thank goodness I did... I had that as truth to compare against. All data was correct within ItsDeductible; not so after being imported (after adding a few more charitable contributions and re-importing to TurboTax).
What's great about it: Its great when it works

Easy as answering questions

Easy as answering a few questions, If you don't understand the question use the help feature it explains even more. Quick and easy less frustration then the old paper and pencil. Now let's get the state efile cheaper also.

2015 Deluxe Review

I liked it a lot better than last years and that was good too.
What's great about it: Better questions this year
What's not so great: A little steep on the fee for state E-filing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
