What's great about it: thorough questions
What's not so great: There was no place for me to get credit for the SC vehicle property tax I paid in 2015 before moving to NY.
Pros: I moved

Usually Taxes Done Easy

Been using TT for a decade and love it. This year is the first time I experienced any problem. TT would not let me file due to my several imported 1099 R forms had no amount in block 9a. I originally tried to put a zero in the block to clear the error, but that failed. I finally found that I should leave this block empty in the help files. I did that and was able to complete my return, but then I was unable to file because of this same block not being "within the prescribed parameters." The only way the program would let me file was to delete all the imported 1099 Rs and manually reenter them leaving block 9a empty. Bit of a pain, but still a great tax program.
What's great about it: Does the math and asks all the right questions.
What's not so great: Glitch with imported 1099-R box 9a.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Have used Turbo tax for many years without a problem. This is the second year of using it on the Mac. When it had to deal with a special situation for MN taxes it sent me a help topic on the intuit web site. Unfortunately the instructions were only for the Windows based turbo tax and not the Mac based version. It also had problems when I file electronicly it wanted additional info from 4 of my 1099-R forms except it only identified them by the Payers name but I had 2 forms from each of 2 payers so I guessed at which value went with each hoping I did them in the same order as I entered them. This problem should have been caught earlier in the process or all of the info for the forms should have used to identify which one they needed more info on.l
What's great about it: Handled most areas well.
What's not so great: Problems with moving from one state to another.

Still Using Turbotax After All These Years!

I really like using TurboTax. I used to do taxes using pen and paper. I started using TurboTax before it was the norm. So, Turbo Tax has made great strides. The one thing that I think that could improve an already great product is to offer more definitive tax info for how to fill-in the tax forms for retirement money and plans. For example, when you go to fill-in the info for a 1099, there are distinct differences in questions for an annuity, 401k, etc. Also, more info for the simple rule method vs general rule method. The average person like myself is always left completely stumped when it comes to filling out this part of the tax form.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Not enough info for more difficult issues

TT 2015

Overall, a good experience; although, some of the guidance can be confusing. e.g. If you mistakenly select a step and wish to return to the previous one, sometimes the screen you get is a different one; in other words, you may be back at the previous step but the the screen is different, thus the confusion
I signed for the automatic update and was promise a Quicken Starter version for 2016, however, the version that was offered for download is for a Windows operating system, I have a Mac with OS X El Capitan. It appears that the offer does not include versions for Macs, but that was hidden in the small letters of the agreement = an unnecessary way of doing business and a complete disappointment.
What's great about it: Transfers from prior year, from bank institutions, guidance
What's not so great: guidance could be better. Starter Edition for next year only available to Windows

I like turbo tax better then other software. Easy to use. Plus if you have all the tax forms with no deductions like me it takes a short time to do.
What's great about it: Fast, easy, and fun.
What's not so great: State e-file cost went up

TurboTax 2015 Review

I like TurboTax very much. It is simple to use, and guides you through efficiently. This year I had two questions and found the exact answers I needed in the provided help. That makes life a little easier. Overall a quality product.
What's great about it: Easy to use and full useful information in the help
What's not so great: Interpretation left up in the air sometimes and I can't use the free version online because of an HSA!
Pros: I moved
