frustrating!

i've used TT for the past 10 years, at least, and this was the most difficult year using it! the federal portion was the same and very easy to use. the state portion, however, often had no "helps" linked and was very "buggy." for example, it kept finding errors in a form that was not at all applicable to me and my situation. i ended up having to delete the form altogether. also, it didn't move you through from one tax situation to the next like it does in the federal portion. what is typically very intuitive became burdensome. i had to click on each and every scenario to make sure it didn't apply to our situation. i will consider using something else next year.
What's great about it: federal portion was easy
What's not so great: state portion (CA) was horrible!

It is not easy to edit some itmes or part of the previous records, example - If trying to recorrect information or figures in the form 8615
What's great about it: convenience
What's not so great: it is taking time to input new items if follow previous year record

TT has been my been my choice for the past 15 years or so, I find the program easy to use and accurate. No Audits have occurred to date. My wife used the Online"Free" edition for a friend and somehow got ripped for the Premium program which we did not need. This kind of issue may drive me to do it all manually.
What's great about it: Great, trouble free program for doing your taxes.
What's not so great: Some sort of disconnect prevented my E-file from processing.

Turbo Tax After Action

Pros -
Turbo Tax was as easy as the commercials say it is. Plug in the numbers and then go to the next section
Cons -
In the review, when the program takes you to a specific line item on an actual tax form or data form, the instructions are extremely sparse and not clear the first time through.
Recommendation -
A way to put possibilities into a hypothetical form while the real form for submission stays intact at the point you left for the hypothetical. This way a person would not have to go back and delete all the hypothetical data to again get a clean form.
What's great about it: Plug and play answers almost all the time
What's not so great: review return to actual forms

SOOO EASY!

software makes it so easy to file. No need to wade through pages of instructions. Once you have your paperwork together, you just need to fill in the blanks. Have been using Turbo Tax for at least five years. Wouldn't do it any other way!

Turbo-Tax for 2015

All I had to do was answer questions and if I didn't have the answers, chase them down. Turbo-Tax handled everything from start-up until the forms were transmitted to the IRS.
What's great about it: Transferred unchanged data from my 2014 form. Displayed 2014 data alongside the 2015 data.
What's not so great: Cost
