I have been using turbotax for a few years and it seems to be getting more simple or I am just getting use to instructions.
What's great about it: Very simple to follow - Great for old folks
What's not so great: None apparent

Thanks, the program generally got me through my filings. I had interest in filing my fed by mail & then doing my state by email. But I couldn't figure the later once I selected to mail my fed.
I might of thought the program would have reminded me to go over my flagged items before finishing.
With W-2 box 14 selections, I might of thought the program would have allowed my to enter the exact code(s) used on the specific w-2 under the program "other..." category with the drop down. This hopefully would allow my saved copies to be more informative without potentially needing to look at the w-2. Hope this helps.

Still the best.

I've been using TurboTax for 10 plus years and it takes all of the worry and work out of preparing and filing your returns. One Tip....Make sure you pick a filing technique (ie online preparation or software download and install software. I always download and install the software and it works excellent for me.
What's great about it: Easy to use and the options for support is unparalleled.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Will not load in Windows 7, tried to download manual update but would still not work on Windows 7.
I had to install on Windows 10 to make it work.
I should not have to go through all this unnecessary stuff when I have already brought the program.
If, I would mot have had Windows 10 on another computer I would not had purchased TurboTax.

Used for Years to Do Taxes

Turbo tax is great for doing taxes. I have used for 15 years to do my husbands and I's taxes and our kids taxes. We have lots of complexity in our filings (rental property, stock options, gifts to minors, etc) and it works pretty well.
The only issue I have is being able to do what if scenario, for example should we claim our 21 year daughter or should she. Sometimes it keeps data from a scenaro and if you go the other way it gives you errors instead of cleaning up the background data
What's great about it: Good step by step Instructions
What's not so great: When doing What if it keeps all the background stuff and then you get errors when doing a review
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I used to have my own business, filed Schedule C, etc. Turbotax Home and Business made it all so easy to do. Now that I am no longer self-employed, we use Turbotax Deluxe. It too is as easy and painless as it can be. I cannot imagine filing taxes any other way.
What's great about it: Easy walkthrough, clear, year to year comparison, ease of filing
