great experience: almost

When I first tried to put in the sales tax on new vehicle, it was after I had gone past that screen and had to retrack. It took several minutes of trying and help from the web to get to the screen where I could put in make and model. the program came up in the end with additional paperwork (IRS forms) with no direction on how to fill it out... it stumped me for a while..
I deleted the entire return I did that far and started from scratch, now putting in the vehicle details when the screen came up... it worked well..
So why was there all that additional IRS forms in the first place?

I have been using TurboTax for several years, so cannot compare with competitors.
I found the program easy to use. Mostly I used and liked the interview method, but if you want, it is also easy to choose which area to work on.
My only complaint is that I receive a pension from a foreign country, and TurboTax does not make it obvious how to enter the information correctly. I had to look at the forum pages to find out. In particular, it is not obvious how to enter a substitute 1099R. Also the program insists you enter an ID number and zip code for the foreign entity paying my pension. Of course, there are no such numbers. Again the trick you need can be found on the forum. But I only had to learn this once, and since then have used the same tricks each year.
Despite the above complaint, my overall rating of the program is Excellent.

Thorough and Easy

This was my first year using TurboTax and it was clear and easy to use. The return I did for my son and new daughter-in-law rejected the first time because my daughter-in-law's last name didn't match her ssn. Turbo tax helped me fix and refile both Federal and State for free.
What's great about it: Ease of use and help features
What's not so great: I wasn't able to identify difference in name or address on W2s
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Typical Turbo Tax

Turbo Tax required a newer operating system for Mac than I used for 2014, so I had to deal with that first. Turbo Tax would not download off the CD so I had to go through two support people that didn't know anything about a Mac. Then reached a customer service rep who allowed me to download it off the internet.
Most everything worked fine until during the final review it asked for amount of money withdrawn for taxes in 2014 which it should have been able to transfer.
What's great about it: Not too many changes from previous years.
What's not so great: Required using a newer operating system and would not load off disk.

I have been using turbo tax since it came out (like 30 years ago) and will never use anything else. Trusted application - simple and logical.

I like using it a lot; I have been using it for more than ten years. I have no interest in using the free tax filing software. All my questions are answered. I have a difficult tax return, and so Turbo Tax provides me with all my answers; usually before I ask.
What's great about it: Step by Step insturctions; easy to use
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
