the software is not flexible, hard to surf back and forth, or start new return... + this year ID /DL/ verification... too much problems, no good anymore... I use Deluxe, price also high

The program continually placed my miscellaneous income on line 12 Business Income. I receive a small amount from the local PUD for the energy generated by solar panels on our roof. I receive a 1099-Misc for this and it goes on line 21 Other Income.
I have received this since 2013 and will continue receiving it until 2020.
Turbo Tax asked me if I received it in 2013 and 2014 if I will receive it again in 2016 to which I answered Yes. It the placed the amount on line 12 and generated a Schedule C. THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS!!
I finally decided to lie to the program and only answered that I received it in 2015 and it then sent the dollar amount the line 21.
You have no idea how frustrated I was with Turbo Tax in trying to figure out how to get it to treat it as Other Income.
Next year I'll probably try another tax software program because of this issue.

Worked well. I had some question regarding forms that were downloaded from my brokerage account for which I couldn't find a specific answer.
What's great about it: Seemed easier to work with.
What's not so great: Didn't answer all questions thoroughly.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I got stuck on several items and the online help wasn't quite answering my questions so I used the telephone line and received excellent help and gained a much better understanding of what was happening

All the information I needed is in this program. I used an accountant two years ago and this program is better!
What's great about it: The detail for each income and tax portion of the program is easy to use and provided all the information I needed
What's not so great: Some abbreviations were hard to decipher
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

First year of retirement made easy

So easy to calculate my Federal taxes this year and my State tax return was a great surprise!!!
What's great about it: I had no idea that Colorado did not count a portion of my social security as taxable. Thanks TurboTax.
What's not so great: no issues
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I liked being able to go step-by-step through all possible deductions. Great process. I like being able to e-file.
What's great about it: Step-by-Step instructions and process... Easy to follow... Great review process
What's not so great: dependent on the Internet, but then everything is today, Bank interest and dividend information is not perfect yet.
