Satisfied for 15 years
on April 6, 2016

I have used Turbo Tax for over 15 years, from a time when I worked, had a small business, to now that I am retired (semi), and have Social Security, Pension, and Investment income. Easy to do the "walk through" process. If you are more confident, easy to just fill out the forms on your own. I love not having all the paperwork to file, or to mail. Just efile and save to computer. Thank you TurboTax!
What's great about it: easy to use, private, and secure

Help with IRS IP PIN
on April 6, 2016
Posted by: lxperegrine
I confused the 6 digit IRS IP PIN with the 5 digit Electronic Filing PIN and tried to enter the former into TT. Of course, the TT EF field will not accept 6 digits. The support call resolved the issue and corrected the error so I could file successfully.
What's great about it: Excellent knowledge and perfect patience
What's not so great: None. All issues resolved.

For years!!

I have been using TurboTax Deluxe for about 15 years and it has always performed wonderfully. It is very accurate and is easy to understand for even the least familiar with tax forms. I have never had an audit or any questions whatever in any of the years. I have retired and I might not have to file in the future but that remains to be seen I highly recommend the TurboTax products!
What's great about it: Very accurate and easy use.
What's not so great: I can't think of any.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Only one small nit to pick
on April 6, 2016
Posted by: Viennaliz
I'm a long-time user of TurboTax, and this is the ONLY way I can file our very complicated income taxes (we are investors, owners of a small business and have off-and-on been owners or co-owners of rental property). I find it very thorough, easy to use and trust it completely.
My only nit to pick is that I never can find the way to apply a refund to our estimated taxes. There is an automatic assumption that we want our refund - now! Since we ALWAYS pay estimated taxes, shouldn't that be an automatic first option for us?
What's great about it: Very thorough and easy to use!
What's not so great: It's very hard to apply a refund to estimated taxes.

Ease of use was excellent and all questions were addressed. However you're home site was difficult to use. I had a question about which version I should use and couldn't figure out how to get it answered - very confusing. Finally just bought the Deluxe version and prayed.

Can't do without TTx, but room for improvement
on April 6, 2016

I depend on TurboTax. Have used it for years and expect to continue. For usual transactions, it works well and easily. The 8949 forms work wonderfully. I like the ability to flip from step-by-step to forms and back. I like that Print is always available. There are, however, some broken sections that TTx needs to fix. For one of them, I got help from a Community post that was 5 years old--that tells me it's been a problem for 5 years and TTx hasn't fixed it. That's bad.
Problem areas. (1) The step-by-step method for sale of a PTP simply doesn't work. Long discussion in the Community providing various work-arounds, some of which prevent e-filing; I did find one that made the forms correct and passed the e-file test. Shouldn't have to use a work-around. TTx needs to fix this. (2) Penalty for late payment of one Estimated tax payment. TTx showed my refund as $1 less than my overpayment with NO explanation anywhere. I called and agent tried to help but as we worked through it together, I finally found the issue--I had been a couple weeks late with my Q1 Estimated tax payment and that invoked a $1 penalty. From IRS documents, I'm not even sure it should have been a penalty, but the big flaw is that nowhere did it tell me why my refund didn't match my overpayment. TTx needs to fix this.
What's great about it: Far simpler than manually filling out the forms. Remembers information from previous year. Community is very useful.
What's not so great: Some sections don't work right.
