Turbo Taxing

Overall for a basic tax software it is easy to use and occurs most of the tax situations. When printing there should be some basic pagination built in because we cannot have a voucher printed on the back of a tax form.
I dislike the "feature " that requires to pay for a state filing when essentially the software does nothing.
What's great about it: Easy and repeatable
What's not so great: printing is a disaster

Simple and comprehensive, with an annoying quirk
on April 5, 2016

I've used TurboTax several times, and am always relatively pleased with the guidance, completeness an relative ease of doing my taxes.
The annoying thing (for several versions now) is that I'm unable to paste values like account numbers, passwords, etc. I realize this is supposed to be a "security" feature, but as a software developer and power user I'm aware of the implications, and I'd much rather copy/paste these values from my password safe than have to type them... I purposefully have passwords that are complex and hard to type. Also, knowing that they went out of their way to make this "feature", it's not even something I can write off as a nice-to-have. If it weren't for this ongoing and unnecessary annoyance I would give TurboTax 5 stars.
(One more thing, after trying to submit this review twice apparently my nickname (what everyone calls me: Dan) is too short, and Dannnnnnnnnnnnn is not unique... how annoying!)
What's great about it: Makes taxes easy to prepare, as easy as they can be.
What's not so great: Annoyance... can't copy/paste passwords, account #s, etc.

Does most things well

I have used Turbo Tax for several years. It seems to be fairly straight forward and asks for my various documentation in a good order.
But, there always seems to be that one document that I get that I cannot find a home for or where it does not make sense to go in.
Also, during the review process, there seems to be one bit of information that I need to fill in that has nothing to do with me.
What's great about it: Pretty straight forward.
What's not so great: There's always something

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and it has never failed me.
What's great about it: fast and simple
What's not so great: It can get a little confusing when in the brokerage account section.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

The package is good and completing the forms is somewhat straight forward. However the software crashed on me twice and I wasted valuable time recreating my lost inputs.
What's great about it: Fairly straight forward to complete the various sections. Detailed questions.
What's not so great: Software crashed on me twice without warning

overall good software

not clear how to save when all done; got in circular pattern of save, had to replace, said location of the doc cannot be determined, specified where to save, said already exists, do you want to replace, tried to replace, and back to location cannot be determined
As gets easier and easier to use, more distant from the actual tax calculations, which reduces learning about what is really going on, which reduces ability to understand how to modify behavior to be tax efficient
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: hard to get to print state option to mail
