2015 Refund
on April 5, 2016
Posted by: 86Chris
The process, in general, as pretty fast. We had a delay for a couple of weeks while waiting for a federal form to be revised. That was a bit annoying, especially since the form was very simple.
More people would e-file their state returns if the cost was $10.00.
What's great about it: Federal tax went smooth
What's not so great: Hard to get state tax printout for filing by mail. There should be an option to select.

529 Section Needs Lots of Improvement
on April 5, 2016

For as long as I have used TT, the 529 Plan section continues to handle things very poorly. Especially for payments made by the 529 plan directly to me to handle off-campus housing, food,, etc. for my son. The instructions should be much clearer as to where to enter these items. The appropriate fields are very obscured, and only through lots of research did I uncover where to enter information to accurately handle this aspect.

Easy to use...but still room for improvement

I love the software and have been using it for years. Still, annoyed I had to reenter the same info from previous years. Some auto-fill, some did not. For instance employer info...same as it has been for years for me...still have to key it in.
What's great about it: Easy to use.
What's not so great: Still some room to improve for repeat users

Generally very good except a few issues

I love step by step instructions. They are very thorough. Multiple states can cause TTax problems though as sometimes the wrong info is embedded in one of the states without your knowledge.
What's great about it: One place to enter all data, good step by step instructions and explanations
What's not so great: multi states tend to hide errors and do not show up until printing returns upon filing - MA and NY had errors.
Pros: I moved

It seemed to be OK. For the cost, I may consider trying HR Blocks return next year.
