Incredible software

One of the best software packages I've ever seen . Does everything needed and does it well. You can move throughout at your own pace, getting explanations when you need them. It's a total bargain.
What's great about it: easy to use, internally mobile, complete explanations

turbo tax 2016 pro

well laid out, steps were explained all the way through. It could use more work in the area of schedule A - deductions...it's confusing and sometimes difficult to assign values to things donated by yourself. Schedule C needs improvement too... the section is self-employed people, sub-contractors and businesses - it does not give you the right explanations on various deductions and in a few other places too, it's difficult to know where certain values are to be entered.

What's not so great: dosn't always save your work. I had to re-enter my information a few times near the beginning half...and it could use

Easier than all those forms

In general, turbotax has been very helpful these past five years; much easier to keep track of what is needed and file taxes than doing it with paper forms.
What's great about it: Walked me through each step of the filing.
What's not so great: Questions re: pension funds. Pay to efile in CA.

I like Turbo Tax because it carries over last years info to current return. I would prefer a version for easy returns as I am retired and don't need all the extra subjects.
What's not so great: It does not Have the pick your own category first for those who have simple returns.

Online vs Desktop

This is my first year using the Desktop version instead of the online TurboTax application. Wish I'd been using Desktop software all along - it was MUCH easier to use, and I loved that I could see the actual worksheets/forms. You can't do that using the online version. Also, I called for help a couple of times, and the customer service rep and the tax expert were both very nice, extremely patient, easy to hear and understand (I'm hard of hearing), and they were able to help me through some things I didn't quite understand. GREAT customer care! THANKS!
What's great about it: Desktop more user friendly - better set up than online version
What's not so great: No cons for me

The process was easier this time. Importing of last year's information was seamless and was a huge benefit. All recalculation was automatic and rapid.
What's great about it: Asked all the pertinent questions so proper forms were selected.
What's not so great: Importance of doing the whole interview wasn't clear at the outset.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

YOU FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT!

After years of using T/T for my federal and state returns, this was the easiest year ever to file. I got through both returns in one over-night session. Either you're getting better or I'm getting smarter.
What's great about it: This was the quickest I've ever done my taxes.
What's not so great: Stll can't handle my public pension correctly.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
