The little confusion I had with my 1099 MIsc. could easily have been me but I just thought I mention it.
What's great about it: Gives all the tax imformation I need to do my taxes. For the most part, easy to use,and produces neat looking tax return
What's not so great: I had a little problem with my 1099 Misc. My 1099 Misc. was part of my business income.

Quick & Easy

I have used Turbo Tax for many years. This has really reduced the time and headache of getting taxes done quickly and accurately. And, of course, I love the electronic filing. I am assured that the IRS got the my return.
What's great about it: Logical progression through forms. Like to be told what box on the forms I receive the information is found.
What's not so great: The HSA box on W-2 and amount there not fully explained. Still uncertain if it was taxable or not.

I have been using Deluxe for years. Last year was a mess with your change in software. Spend hours trying to get it straightened out. This year was a nightmare with State taxes (PA) -- can't even explain in writing the problems.
Wanted to file by mail and could not find/access completed return until I found a way to print. Can't access forms for state. Say I filed electronically but checked the mail button. Since I never paid for file, don't know how this happened. I assumed it did not and file by paper. AaaAaH!!!!!!!!

New York State Forms Broken

If a semi-retired couple has NY-expempt pensions, but no other pension income, TurboTax deducts an additional 40K from income even though not applicable. Over-riding to correct this automatic deduction prevents NYS e-filing, resulting in longer wait for refund. Fundamental programming error on the part of TurboTax, costing me time and added $$ to paper file and then wait extra time for refund.
What's great about it: Federal Calculations Work
What's not so great: State Calculations do not Work

I was stuck a few times and was linked to a support staff member by telephone. Problems solved quickly.
What's great about it: Very knowledgeable support staff!

Easy!

We've been using Turbo Tax for many years. Some years are more complicated than others, which TurboTax flexes to meet those needs. Unless you're paying an accountant, this is the only way to file.
What's great about it: The screens quicklky and easily stepped us through every section
What's not so great: Nothing can relieve the anxiety of doing taxes
