Turbotax for years
on April 3, 2016

Been using TurboTax for 8 years and have not found any other program as easy to use and complete.
What's great about it: Easy to follow and easy to include all expenses and deductions
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Always Easy to Use
on April 3, 2016

I have been a subscriber for years. Whether we use the standard deduction or list our deductions, Turbo Tax always offers ease of use. I particularly like their information and definition sections which are convenient to access. Customer Service is great. When I send my returns, I always feel confident that they are correct. This is a great product and Turbo Tax will have my loyalty for years to come.
What's great about it: Easy to use; provides me with confidence that return will be correct; user for years and have never had a problem
What's not so great: None
Pros: I moved

still relatively easy to file taxes however
- can't upload 2014 cash charitable contributions like I could in 2014 version (upload 2013 contributions), takes longer than needed entering charity data when you give to a lot of varied charities
- in review cycle no explanations for what is being asked, had to search on my own
What's great about it: still relatively easy to file
What's not so great: can't upload previous year's charitable contributions like in 2014

the asset/business expense section: when entering equipment that i bought, it suggested that many were business expenses and not assets, which is great info, but i spent forever adding them in and they were not placed automatically into the business expense section. i didn't realize it so it was a waste of valuable time inputting that info. then i spent forever trying to figure out why the numbers didn't add up, then finallyi realized that nothing had been actually moved to the expense section and had to re enter all of the numbers under the misc business expense area. when equipment is entered and it suggests it is a business expense, it would have been very helpful (and was what i expected) to have it automatically placed into the business expense section. when i start up my own business, i don't think i will feel comfortable using turbo tax next year because of this issue--i'm afraid it will be even more confusing and something will be missed.
What's great about it: most of guide does well and i'm very happy with it
What's not so great: job related expenses and assets

Making the Best of Tax Season
on April 3, 2016

TurboTax continues to improve every year, making a not-so-fun activity swift and manageable. You feel like you have an "accountant" without having to hire one. You can trust that as long as you input the data correctly, then your result will be valid and reliable. The 'review" assures that even fat-fingering will probably be caught and corrected.
What's great about it: Guided process keeps you on-track and minimizes errors,
What's not so great: None. There is NO downside to TurboTax
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Took some time to get refreshed with terminology

Just wish forms would stay the same year after year. It is difficult to hit a moving target when it is bobbing and weaving at a long distance. Darn IRS folks.
What's great about it: Speed of the program to do caculations and data form handling.familiar view and layout.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

its ok. every year they take more away. no support, no service. at least the deluxe package with all the forms are back. didnt bother downloading from another package I used last year. Pompus I would describe it.
What's great about it: straight forward, no surprises after 15 years
What's not so great: no chat? no ability to find if YOU erred.
