TurboTax makes even complex returns easy, breezy

I've loved using TurboTax for more than 20 years and continue to recommend it to friends and colleagues. It gets better every year. Importing the previous year's info and keeping track of assets, income and expenses over many years makes it easy to answer the interview questions and make sure nothing is forgotten. There is one annoying snag I have to fix every year: the program incorrectly marks books purchased for professional library in previous years on Schedule A as investment expenses not subject to Section 179, even though I fix it manually. A new snag arose this year: assets missing from 2014 Form 2106 import raised questions and caused delay until I figured out that they were past useful life and therefore fully depreciated. Otherwise all went well. Especially like the option to efile the federal return free, and the state return is extremely quick and easy to complete and efile also.
What's great about it: Importing previous year's info makes answering interview questions easy.
What's not so great: Assets missing from import raised questions and caused delay.

The norm....GREAT!!

As always, easy to use, this year was even easier and faster. Why do people pay the $$$$ to have most taxes done...? Thanks Turbo Tax. Been using for over 15 years! And will more.
What's great about it: Easy, simple, fast....cheap.
What's not so great: um.......? no cons really.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

I've been a TT user for several years and am always impressed. I prefer allowing the program to walk me through filing so nothing gets missed. instructions are clear and have never needed to ask questions or clarifications.

You still have plenty of glitches

Your software still needs some upgrades by people who know what income taxes are all about.
Your program needs to recognize prior year users who have purchased and used your software over multiple years. It sure helps with bringing forward information from past years returns.
Your software needs to recognize that when a user says yes to receiving updates to the federal and state laws. returns, etc., it then doesn't think I'm a new user and ask me if I'm sure I want to download and open the updates? DUH!!!
Work on these and you may have a very good program!

easy to follow. does not let you file for amendments to last years taxes. got through quick.

What's not so great: does not allow review or refile last years tax forms from turbo tax

I have a complicated tax situation with several sources of income and rental property income. TurboTax walked me through each situation and gave me the very best way to pay the accurate amount of tax while maximizing deductions.
