Decided to skip the CPA

Very easy to use and saved me from having to pay the CPA a high preparation fee, very pleased. I will definitely use again next year.
What's great about it: Every step was thoroughly explained, gave me extreme confidence in deciding to use this product.
What's not so great: I really can't say anything.

A fine piece of software...I've used for years with no problems for me or from the IRS...
What's great about it: Great instructions clear and concise....
What's not so great: Got a little lost finding estimated taxes section...but got it done...

This program makes doing taxes much easier. You feel confident in getting back the return you deserve.
What's great about it: Easy to use and navigate.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Prefer Turbo Tax over H&R Block

Last year I used H&R Block software because I got a great price on it. However, I much prefer TurboTax and was very glad to return to using this product for 2015 taxes. The online forums and Q&A really help deal with the trickier, less common situations. I was easily able to handle our ESPP sales using the Deluxe version. Excellent product--I'll continue to use it as long as price remains so reasonable.
What's great about it: great in-app descriptions; excellent online help forum. These features alone are worth the price!
What's not so great: minor annoyance: sometimes needlessly cycle through interview questions on returning to a topic

Not as good as it used to be

I prepared several 2015 tax returns & none printed the filing instructions for the federal returns only. Nothing has changed or improved since I began using this product in 2011. It looks so antiquated. I will probably try a different software. Very disappointed that it hasn't kept up with the times.
What's great about it: Same simple consistent screen views & formats
What's not so great: The help & search buttons are of no use whatsoever. Also the community answers to the questions are not helpful.

I've used Turbo Tax for more than 10 years and have always found it to be clear, easy to follow, and thorough in helping me note all my income and deductions. I find the question format useful for considering items I might not think of if doing taxes on my own. This year was no different except when it came to the worksheets for NJ regarding IRA disbursements. Not sure if it's NJ law or Turbo Tax but I found the help notes very confusing and wished there was someone to call. Ultimately went to the NJ Taxation website to resolve my questions. In spite of this, I'll be using it again next year.
What's great about it: question format, importing prior year info, checking for mistakes, ease of use for most tax lines
What's not so great: The NJ info on IRA disbursements was confusing
