Needs more work on City Of Detroit, MI input. City of Detroit input of Schedule N data needs more work. I had to go in manually to fix the adjusted income for city of Detroit on my wages even though the total was correct. It showed my adjusted city of Detroit wages incorrectly as zero.
What's great about it: Generally easy to use.
What's not so great: Needs more work on City Of Detroit, MI input.

Still Has Problems in Forms View
on April 2, 2016

This program is OK. They have problems with the Forms view and seem to concentrate primarily on the EasyStep. The index of open forms in the forms view has about 40 'charitable contribution worksheets' at the top, so any time I want something else I have to scroll waaaaay down. And the rest of the forms aren't in any order, so all the Schedule D gains and loss are individually listed BEFORE I can get anywhere near Schedule B, and Schedule A is below that somewhere. They should be in order, and they should be stacked with triangles so you can drill down to what you want. A single 'charitable contributions worksheets' with a pivotable triangle to select the worksheet you want would solve the problem. Ditto with all the rest like the Schedule D items. Everybody else can stack things. Why not Intuit?
This year, for some reason, when I make an entry & hit return I get kicked OFF the form I was working on and back to some other form that I haven't even started. Then I have to scroll through the morass of individual items to try and find the one I was working on! Pain in the tucchus.
It STILL needs to open an explanation of how a computed amount was arrived at. The program used to do this but apparently it's been discarded as unnecessary.
What's great about it: Easy entry of data into forms; importing from outside sites EASY
What's not so great: Horrible index of open forms; random loss of workspace
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I've used Turbo Tax for 15 years. I do my own taxes as well as my parents', siblings', children's, and even a few friends'! I'll never use anything else!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy to use

I like the step by step guide but also the ability to review my forms "as is". Still a couple of instances where I had to go outside TurboTax to get additional clarification. This was for health insurance and state taxes.. Otherwise very easy and convenient.
What's great about it: guided through each step; gave examples of what needed; nice to not have to fill out IRS worksheets
What's not so great: still some areas which are confusing like health insurance/tax

Positive experience.
What's great about it: The ease of use. I have filed with TT many years. This year was the least complicated.

Scared Filer

Turbo Tax is great in1) transferring information from year to year, and 2) filling in information when something is easiy identified.
However, I also had two problems: 1) I had something listed as capital gains and I couldn't figure out where that income belonged, and 2) We make a lot of donations, but they are not the same from year to year. There are some deletions (usually due to poor ratings or non-existent ratings on charity Navigator). And there are additions because we learn of new, deserving charities. So even if a donation list starts out alphabetical, it doesn't stay that way. There should be automatic alphabetizing of donation entries, and after a filer clicks "done" with a donation, they should be returned to where they left off in the list of donations..
I finished my tax return in less that half a day except for the donations. Completeing that part took me about two days.
What's great about it: Ease til Contributions
What's not so great: No automatic alphabetizing of donation and having to scroll through all donations to verify the information of any early

This customer did not provide a text review.
What's not so great: More fees than past years. It would have been cheaper to get them done professionally.

I've been using this for many years. It is the same experience as other years which is a good thing. No need to fancy it up.
What's great about it: import from last year, familiar operation
