Smooths Complexity

Handles the complexity of AMT and Additional Medicare Tax well. I have used Turbo Tax for 20 years and have never had an issue with completing or filing my returns. Love the product.
What's great about it: Great walk throughs on most topics.
What's not so great: No easy step for some IRA RMDs.

Something is not correct with the math on the MD state. It added $302.00 to my state return and when I reviewed my income W-2s I could not locate this extra payment to the state.
This needs to be checked out.

Not as easy to use as previous years

I always find it too depressing to do my taxes in one stretch. So I step away from the program and return to it when I feel I can once again face the music. This year, unlike previous years, I found it difficult to pick up where I left off. The program wanted to take me back to the income page or the deduction page and go over areas I had already completed. Maybe its just me getting older, but I felt I had to spend more time learning the program this year, as compared to previous years (I've used Turbo Tax for over 15 years). As always I feel the program thoroughly identified all my income and deductions and I'm confident my filing will not raise any red flags with the IRS. Great bargain for the price.
What's great about it: Covered all the income and deductions for me
What's not so great: Not as easy to pick up where you left off if you didn't finish in one session.

Turbotax 2015 Experience

Questions are straight forward and easy to answer but "Learn More" is available for more details if something is unclear.
Can be a little tedious paging through information already entered and questions already answered if you need to make one update in one section.
Overall, it's easy to install and use this package. That's why we've been using TurboTax since 2008.

What's great about it: Copies information from prior years which makes entry much easier.
What's not so great: Incorrect date (2014) was in one of the questions for 2015 info.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

1099-B

The entering of data from my 1099 B was awkward, non-intuitive and off-putting. A great contrast from all the other data entry. I got a little help from the forum, but finally pulled up the IRS form itself and entered directly there. TurboTax accepted my entries fine and presumably dealt with them accurately and correctly (to the rules). I hope this one gets worked on over the summer.

Best tax prep software

Excellent tax prep software, makes it possible for non-tax, non-CPAs to file properly.
What's great about it: Thorough, clear
What's not so great: Possibly increased intelligent analysis to indicate to a filer where additional deductions can occur

I like that I can start and stop the preparation of my taxes when I have the time or desire to work on them.
It's nice that you can import your W2 information from the previous year. And it helps to maximize our deductions and credits we are allowed.
