I have use TurboTax before. On this occasion, like most years, it was simple and straight forward to use. The questions were simple and easy to understand. I will continue to use TTx in the future.
What's great about it: Easy to use and it was comprehensive
What's not so great: None

Been using Turbo Tax for a long time. Tried a CPA once then compared his return with the return that Turbo Tax gave me and they were identical and Turbo Tax is much cheaper than a CPA.
What's great about it: Step by step instructions make doing taxes simple

TurboTax has worked well for me for the past 5 years. I have a part time job, which I am self employed at, and the software lends itself easy to use for something like this. Also the cost for the software with the added expense deductions is reasonable. I will continue using TurboTax in the future.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to use
What's not so great: sort of a hassle to get back to a particular page.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Software Lacking

Capital gains distribution appears on Sch. D of the federal return under Long-Term Capital Gains and Losses. HOWEVER, Turbo Tax has you input it on the same screen as your dividend income, which is on Sch. B. I about never found it because I couldn't understand why my search kept sending me to Sch. B info instead of Sch. D. This makes no sense.
Same thing with the Foreign Tax Credit. It must be entered with the dividend information as well under an OBSCURE box: "My form has info in more than just these boxes." Who would have thought? A tax credit with dividend income??
Getting back to Capital Gains and Losses, Box C under short-term gains and Box F under long-term gains are not options. WHY NOT? They are on the 8949 and Sch. D.
There needs to be a way to edit the forms. I could easily have made these changes instead of wasting MANY HOURS trying to find a place to enter my information. I never was able to get this info in the correct places. I will have to mail my return so I can make the corrections. I have spent about 10 hours just trying to input my info into TurboTax!!!
What's great about it: Automatic Calculations
What's not so great: Calculations depend on input, which can easily be wrong when TruboTax does not ask the right questions.

Turbo Tax Comes Through Again
on April 1, 2016

I've been using Turbo Tax for more than 10 years. I used to do taxes by hand, making several trips to the library to get other tax forms and instructions. Once I even went to a CPA with a question. It took about a week to do.
None of that with Turbo Tax. It's easy to use (once you've got all of your W2 forms, etc together). It's accurate, and I have peace of mind when I file taxes. Turbo Tax usually takes a half day to finish now. I'll be using this product until the IRS is abolished.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax quiclky giuded me through tax prep. I just plugged in the numbers.
What's not so great: None.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
