my 4th year with turbo tax and not dissappointed.

I will not say taxes are easy but turbo tax makes them do-able and at a price that is reasonable for normal people
What's great about it: being able to go back and fix things, review for best return
What's not so great: not all the screen will allow you to go back
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Adding some additional text & hints to the State Return (Montana) would be helpful. While the program appears to add the values from the Federal Return to the right location, no information is provided to show that keeping the values as imported is "Recommended" or not.
What's great about it: The Federal Return seemed to go smoothly.
What's not so great: State Return could be improved.

TurboTax Still Top of the Line

I really like the import feature as TT remembers details & carryovers that I would have forgotten, or didn't even know about. And with the relatively recent ability to save in PDF format, you get a complete picture/version of your tax forms, both Federal & State.
I used to just jump right into the forms, but with all the changes in the tax laws, I use the Easy Form, & follow each stage, answering all the questions to be sure I don't miss anything, especially since I do itemize.
When my daughters were first starting out, I did their taxes for them as well. Their families now use TT also. Signing up for the Auto Renewal Plan is a great bonus as it just comes in the mail as soon as it is released!
What's great about it: I have used TurboTax since the early 90's and find that it is the greatest tax software ever: easy to use and navigate.
What's not so great: Sometimes former details are difficult to delete, like Jury Duty Pay!

Got lost in the return

I loaded in my disc, installed TurboTax and entered all my data extremely swiftly because the W-2 retrievals and previous year's returns minimized my data entry chore. I started the e-file Fed return process entering sensitive account information and making the Audit Defense purchase. All was well. Then the State return was selected but when the last purchase went awry, there was no way to exit gracefully and peacefully back to the file-in-progress. When I reopened TurboTax, and then my return, it opened to the start of the e-filing process, not where I was when the problem stopped the e-filing. Then I was lost. Fortunately, I managed to creep through your automated phone system to a couple of competent ladies that were able to walk me through the e-filing, continuing to verify all my data was intact until we got to the place where the State return is purchased. It seemed like the same delayed no-action was about to repeat but instead a new message informed me the purchase had completed and oh by the way, my two returns had been filed. I had only imagined something had been lost or corrupted because the return didn't open exactly where It had last been saved as I had come to expect it to behave.
What's great about it: The service team was patient and competent.
What's not so great: My return did not open to where it had last been saved, confusing me.

Very good
What's great about it: Seems to cover all possible tax issues
What's not so great: does not provide clea rinstructios on saving and retrieving partially completed returns.

You really can't go wrong with Turbo/tax. Updated info and ease of operation, attention to the details , help desk available..I better understand my taxes due to this program..
What's great about it: Ease ,attention to detail, reloading the repetitive information.. Questions and information readely availible
What's not so great: Added on expense at the end..

unanswered questions

I have used Turbo Tax for at least 10 years. My questions have always been answered but this year there was a lawsuit settlement that was listed as other income. On the federal form there was nothing but the state of Idaho required the Schedule C and could not be filed electronically. I did not get this notification until after I had already paid the fee for electronic filing. The answers to my questions were not evident at all. This was not what I expected.
What's great about it: Pretty easy to use
What's not so great: Schedule C was required by the state of Idaho for a lawsuit settlement but not for FED
