good but could be better

I received a w-2 from JHU in Maryland but the taxes were paid to California where I live. Turbo tax kept trying to get me to file a Maryland State tax return but I didn't pay any taxes there or work in that state. I worked for JHU in California. This was a bit frustrating because I was not able to remove Maryland.
What's great about it: easy step by step
What's not so great: some things are difficult to change or edit.

More bugs than in prior years. Sometimes skipped screens. Also, I was going to change my W4, then I changed my mind. The program insisted I add all the information anyway.

The program is slipping backward in difficulty

The program makes it difficult to import last year's data. You must find last year's tax file and double click it for import vs. automatically tracking it down and import. ( On Mac version)
Difficulty in finding estimated taxes for this year and next year's prep.
Does not follow K-1 partnership forms accurately, but It handles rental property pretty good and stock/Mutual fund income well.
Taxes are bad enough without hiding critical features. Also, constant slow upgrades are a nuisance.
It is still a time saver, but seems to revert back to Windows type slow downs. This program was MacInTax originally.
What's great about it: Importing last year's data
What's not so great: Hiding key items for taxes.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have used TurboTax since it came on a 5.25 inch floppy for MS-DOS. I do recommend this product for first-timers. Wish I could put place markers / reminders for entries to be completed later and not have to wade or search through a lot to get back to them. In Schedule C for sole prop the sections for IRA and SEP-IRA could be better. Overall, IRA stuff needs improvement.
What's great about it: Easy enough to follow. Easy California file. Zoom is good.
What's not so great: Cumbersome in some sections. Help needs help.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
