Doing Turbo Tax

Turbo Tax could not find my first draft made last month. Even after trying to open the file, it could not. I then had to start all over in doing my taxes.

You should be able to print the check file status screen. I wanted that information for my files in case there is ever a dispute. Please consider getting that fixed.
What's great about it: Very user friendly, easy to use
What's not so great: Did not like the idea of not being able to print the check file status screen.

Surprised Easy

Very easy to follow, I had tax form sent to me that did not come up but when I searched the form the information came up and explained them. It wanted to do State taxes, TN does not have state taxes wasn't sure what to do so I just picked no I would do them later
What's great about it: Very easy to follow
What's not so great: State Taxes wanted to do State Taxes for TN we don't have St Taxes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

All I needed

This product was everything I needed. Fired our CPA after three years of bad communication and a 2014 prep which resulted in us owing money due to a "wrong number" on our W4 he prepared.
After that $5000.00 nightmare of a mistake, we had to find someone new but couldn't do so in time for 2015 filing. So we turned to TurboTax Deluxe and it worked perfectly. The program walked us through step by step making it very user friendly. It also has its own error check system so even if you miss something you can go back and fill it in.
Only complaint is a program glitch occurred half way through and I had to update and start the entire process over. It was problematic in the aspect I had to retype what I had already done but as I saved a good amount of money by doing these myself, it was worth it.
What's great about it: Complete and easy to use
What's not so great: glitched

Download Annoyance

I have been a Turbo Tax user for the past 20+ years. Always had great results, until this year. Doing the taxes was the same as in years past, but this year, when it came time to file, what a pain in the butt! I finished doing my taxes in early March but because of a turn in my wife's health, waited until 3.27 to electronically file. So why so late in the filing season is there a 146Mb update that I have to download for 45+ minutes that has no bearing whatsoever on my taxes? I download and perform the updates and open to where I needed to be to electronically file. However, the hour was late and the Sand Man called. So, I waited to file the following night. Guess what? I am forced to repeat the exact same download of 146Mb, another 45+ minutes, then reload the changes, then I am able to electronically file my taxed. Why? Why? Why? Frustrating!
What's great about it: Accurate and thorough
What's not so great: Too many long downloads at inopportune times
