1st Time Zero-Zero Tax!
on March 28, 2016

Tax Credits dialog needs expanding as it gave me the wrong reason for not having a foreign tax credit: TurboTax said it found no foreign tax entries, which caused me to waste time going back to verify the foreign tax entries were included. Then I wasted time trying to figure out why TurboTax did not recognize them when they were there. I finally realized that I did not get the foreign tax credit because I had no domestic tax due anyway by that point in the program.
Also the final phase of printing returns is still somewhat lacking as to clarity. Evidently, one must preview the PDF file and print from Adobe Acrobat or one must save the PDF file and print from Adobe Acrobat. There is no direct print function: printing is only done via Adobe Acrobat.
What's great about it: Fairly Straightforward
What's not so great: Some dialogs not clear
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Saves Massive Amounts of Time
on March 28, 2016

With investments, retirement incomes from many sources, and itemized deductions, my tax return is complicated, Even with a Ph.D., I found tax return preparation almost impossible and incredibly time consuming before going to TurboTax. My time is more important than any refund, and TurboTax saved me massive amounts of tax preparation time, without sacrificing accuracy. I received a great refund this year, but my best return was the time saved, time that can be spent in more interesting and productive ventures.
What's great about it: fast, simple, straightforward,
What's not so great: Nothing I didn't like
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Confirmed User

I began using Turbo Tax in 1998. I've used it every year since. Its tutorials normally are easy to comprehend and cover the subjects well. Having said that, it still behooves each user not to rely upon its info solely. All deductions,i.e.,LTC may not be explicitly mentioned,
If in doubt research before final submission.
What's great about it: As usual Turbo software is easy to use,in most situations it explains deductions quite well.
What's not so great: I understand Long Term Care insurance premiums were deductible during 2015.They weren't covered in the 2015 software
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Always Great Every Year
on March 28, 2016

I have been doing my taxes for many years, I've helped others with taxes and how to handle deductions to get your maximum refund - even though I can fill all these out myself, Turbo Tax still makes it so simple and fluid and lets me save all my info to my computer and file online, which makes everything organized and easy to check through.
I always use Turbo Tax. I always recommend them. Save money on a Tax Preparer and file your taxes yourself. It will be cheaper and if you still have questions, there are forums, a very intuitive search function, and turbo tax customer service is very helpful !
Highly Recommend 5/5
What's great about it: Simple step by step instructions, audit risk assessment and protection, search bar

WOW, wasn't expecting that

Sat down with my documents and systematically the TurboTax system asked for information. Entered the information and TurboTax did all the calculations. Quick and easy and suddenly found myself with the largest refund I have ever had.
On the State return for PA, it had a section where I had to enter the "Basis" of my early distribution from a pension. The terminology was not the typical easy to follow language that I find in the rest of TurboTax. Please work on a better definition of what is Basis and how to calculate it.
What's great about it: Quick easy directions
What's not so great: Definition of Basis and how to calculate
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
