Using TurboTax once a year hardly makes me an authority of the software except to say that it does what is intends to do. I have been using TurboTax since it first came on the scene in the late 80s.or early 90s. I have used others but I always seem to come back to TurbTax.
What's great about it: It works!
What's not so great: State eFile is too expensive!

So simple to use, hardest part of doing the taxes is getting all of the supporting documents together (w2's, 1099's, 1098's, etc...
What's great about it: Step by step guidance, with help lines and simple explanations

What's great about it: as always, you help make the complex simple
What's not so great: your application froze on me a couple times (on a mac) i had to kill the program to continue

I will recommend this for anyone filing single, joint and if you have straightforward incomes.

Great .... except...

I'm retired. I used to teach, as well as, consult with teachers. For the consulting part I appreciated the depreciation/expenses on car and equipment. Now I can't get rid of it. I stopped doing the consulting three years ago - each year the old forms keep showing up wanting new values for unused stuff. So overall you get a grade of "B", but B is still best. Thanks
What's great about it: I always find helpful tips that give me a better return.
What's not so great: I've been unable to drop the depreciation/expenses on old job

I have to give Turbo Tax an A+ for making the process of filing tax returns so easy. I have used Turbo Tax pretty much since it first became available as my tax circumstances are uncomplicated -- so I highly recommend for those similarly situated.
What's great about it: Easy, quick, accurate
