A Trusted Tax Return Software

Still user friendly over the years!!! In spite of the new changes every year, Turbo Tax carefully guides the user through all the needed steps. This avoids skipping any entitlements or deductions.

What's great about it: Autofills from before
What's not so great: More tricky questions I don't recall being asked last time

Painless Prep for Income Taxes
on March 26, 2016

I've been using TurboTax for years and it really is easy! I'm totally not a computer geek, but even i can follow the prompts for doing my taxes. I don't have to dread doing income taxes!
What's great about it: Easy! Just filling the blanks - it took more time to gather my tax info!
What's not so great: I will have to buy upgraded software to do next year's taxes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Much worse than previous years

Way too many redundant questions that have previously been answered. Would like to see a box to check to save my return like they used to have. Present file saving methods are too risky-too easy to make a mistake and not save a file when you think you have. Procedures to open a saved computer file are to complicated.
What's great about it: Better than doing it the old fashion way by hand
What's not so great: Redundant Questions, Complicated Save to file instructions-Easy to loose all data and have to start over.

OHIO STATE RETURN
on March 26, 2016
Posted by: Barberbari1
THE REVIEW INDICATED THAT THE OHIO RETURN IS INELIGIBLE FOR E-FILE BECAUSE THE RETURN IS INCOMPLETE. REVIEW DOES NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AREAS. I SELECTED FILE BY MAIL. OFFICIAL RETURN INSTRUCTIONS REMMINDED ME TO SIGN AND DATE THE RETURN. HOWEVER, THE FORM IT 1040 IS NOT REQUIRED BASED UPON MY FAGI AND FILING STATUS. THE PRINTOUT INCLUDED A JOINT FILING CREDIT ALLOCATION WORKSHEET PART III OHIO ADJUSTMENTS. NO DOCUMENT TO SIGN AND DATE. GUESS I'LL PRINT, SIGN AND INCULDE THE IT-104O JUST TO BE SAFE. VERY CONFUSING!!!
What's not so great: OHIO TAX REVIEW & FILING INSTUCTIONS

Easy to use

A good software for someone that is just starting out and is experienced with taxes. If you are a first time user then may have a few questions but doable. I am a first time user and really have nothing to compare it to, but I liked it for the most part.
What's great about it: Easy to use and understand. Helpful help links were nice when I had a question about a topic.
What's not so great: I didn't like stopping, saving, and picking it up later. It seemed to skip the question I saved and stopped on.
