My Turbo Tax 2015 Experience

Overall, I like using Turbo Tax as I explained in my Pros. The software is user-friendly and accurate. It gives me full confidence in the product and verifies information as to not be questioned nor has discrepancies. I have been using Turbo Tax for over 10 years already. Even when my computer crashed, I was able to use the backed up files to continue with tax filings auto-entry fields and prior tax year comparison numbers.
Users, especially the non-tech savvy folks need to be aware, and encouraged, to back up all prior years to a flash drive and/or cloud servers. In case their computers crash and all drive content lost.
I also use Intuit's Quicken personal software. I have been for years and like the automation, accuracy, details, reports option, etc.
I give Turbo Tax a high-5 star ratings. You make life easier! Especially for doing personal taxes. The cost is minimal and customer users save money from going to a tax preparer or tax accountant services.
What's great about it: Ease of use for self-taxes, automated fill-in fields, accuracy check.
What's not so great: Some changes between 2014 and 2015 seems to re-categorize a few subjects.

Always Loved Turbotax

What's great about it: Asks all the required questions to make sure you don't miss a deduction.
What's not so great: Should automatically delete my Military Retirement from AL return instead of me having to do it every year.

RDPs: Do not Waste your Money or Time

It is true that at the beginning TurboTax warns you to use a CPA or EA if you are a California RDP. We should have listened. If you are in an RDP in California run, run fast. This has been a miserable experience for us. The instructions are frequently incorrect and the software is really user unfriendly for us. I guess we should go ahead and get married. (Grin).
This is the last time we will use TurboTax. The aggravation was not worth the money saved from paying a professional tax preparer.
We used TurboTax for years before the IRS changed the rules for RDP but that was in 2011, plenty of itme for Intuit to get it together.
What's great about it: None
What's not so great: Miserable Experience for RDPs

I use and appreciate the step-by-step process on the first pass through and then it is good to be able to go right to a specific item for which I didn't have the information available on the first pass.
What's great about it: Used for years and never lets me down

Still have to pay, but...

Always use Turbo Tax for preparing our taxes. It is easy to use, great explanations and examples. Can do our fairly uncomplicated taxes in a matter of a few hours. We always have to pay more $, but the program walks you through all ways to save, so I feel we get the best options on savings. I especially like that there is a final review at the end of the program to help make any corrections or changes. I recommend using Turbo Tax to my friends.
