Super Smooth Process

This is my second year of preparing not only my taxes, but those of my parents and in-laws. Very easy software to use, and even saves your information from year to year so you can compare tax info.
What's great about it: Easy to follow directions
What's not so great: none that I can think of

Last year used H&R Block due to Turbo tax not included some of the forms for free. Only came back due to Deluxe having all needed forms to file 1040. If that changes I will go back to H&R Block.
What's great about it: user friendly
What's not so great: Wish 1 state would be free

Easy Peasy Taxes

I've been a TurboTax user for well over 10 years. With no major changes each year, the convenience of starting with last year's return can't be beat. It really helps with organizing and avoiding mistakes, especially missed deductions.
My only concern is with a K-1 trust form that is pretty complicated. Everything else is easier than balancing the checking account.
After purchasing the software, it seems like it would be free e-file for at least one state instead of another 50% of the software price to e-file. And thankfully I didn't move states this year. Or provide a free option to draft the cost of the e-file when the state makes it's deposit for direct deposit customers.
Almost makes taxes fun!
What's great about it: Leads you quickly through the review to understand what is required
What's not so great: Schedule K-1's, E-file fees for State returns
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Peace of Mind

I have used TurboTax for several years. I like the ability to import previous year info, the interview format, and the ability to switch back and forth between that and the forms. The online help (or at least answers to common questions) is right there in place. The e-filing and follow up status updates are very helpful.

What's not so great: Service charge for state e-file fee from refund is too high.

I love TurboTax!

I have used TurboTax several times, but last year I thought I would try to have it done by a professional tax preparer to see if doing it myself was really getting my maximum refund. I found out that I was indeed getting the max, so last year I lost out a couple hundred dollars to the tax prep agency. This year I came back to TurboTax and I expect I will use it over and over again.
What's great about it: Makes the whole process smooth and relatively simple.

TurboTax has been better

i am somewhat alarmed at the difference between last years return and this. I'm a retiree on a fixed income that doesn't vary from year to year, and neither does my expenses. But this year my return is double what it was last year!
What's great about it: It got me through the tax preperation, as usual, relatively painlessly.
What's not so great: Seemed unusually/unecessarily complicated this year.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

The program works well. I use it every year. For some reason it gave me some headaches this time. I could't import my 2014 tax info. In the middle of a computation when I would click on continue or done i would get a spinning wheel and had to force close Turbo Tax and reopen in order to continue. Please look into these areas and fix them before next year. By not importing last years tax info I had to enter everything from scratch. I made for a much longer procedure.
What's great about it: easy to negotiate
What's not so great: sometimes it froze up
