Pounded me for state return!

After the program confirmed I did not need to file a state return (Florida) on at least five occasions it put up the screen to complete, file and of course pay for a State Return.
Audit protection was offered too many times as well.
What's great about it: Relatively painless narrative, except for the con (see below).
What's not so great: Intuit spent too much of my time trying to extract more fees.

As good as it can get

The tax code is complicated. Taxes aren't fun. But this takes as much of the pain as possible out of it, and has great "additional resource" help tabs. I like how more and more financial institutions are allowing direct upload of interest and dividend statements, as well as W-2s. The only weak point still worrisome is typing errors, and the direct importing avoids that.
What's great about it: Covers every base
What's not so great: It's still taxes, and there's still going to be headaches
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've always paid someone to do my taxes. You made it easy to prepare and file my returns all on my own this year and saved money by not paying someone else to do it. Very satisfied.

Not a good year

As a long time yearly user of this software, this was by far the worst year. It really was shocking how often it crashed or stopped responding. When I would check with Help it looked like others found the same glitches in the same spots. The only thing that worked was to save, close it and restart it. It added several hours to tax prep and stress that was not present in previous years.
What's not so great: Many difficulties and crashes

Mac problems

Have been Turbo tax user for years. tried this year on my Macbook, experience is not as good on a Mac vs. Windows computer. Turbo Tax needs to improve Mac experience.
Also, could use some improvement on recommending tax deductions/credits. The detail is there but can't help but feel I am missing some deductions/credits that others are commonly taking that I am not.

even with interruptions

This program is easy to follow and even easier to get the info I needed to find out why I did not qualify for some of the deductions. All the information was right there if I needed it but not in the way if I did not need it. It was easy to find Income limits that excluded me from certain deductions as well as info on why I did not need to file for other areas that I thought I might need. Overall it is a great program for the person with a lot of questions yet does not want to let someone else work on their taxes. They offer a lot of options to help those who are completely clueless about tax returns and even more options to help protect ourselves from audits, fraud, and help regarding investment opportunities.
What's great about it: detailed info
What's not so great: does not efile state taxes for free
