Turbo Tax is great

I have used TurboTax every year since 1991 and have never had any problems that were their fault. One year I entered a number in the wrong block and when the IRS notified me, I corrected it and my refund was corrected.
What's great about it: to many to count

These calculations are almost always inaccurate.
Keep the city results segregated rather than woven in with the State forms.

Pretty Slow Process

I have used Turbo Tax Deluxe for several years and this was the first time I had difficulties. There were problems installing the program: It wouldn't open, I had to re-install before it worked. When filling in my Ohio return, it would start 'calculating' an item, and just sit there for hours. I had to close and reopen the next day, then it happened a couple of times. It has taken me three days to do the returns this year.
What's great about it: Easy to Follow and good explanations of terms
What's not so great: Problems with State Return

Love Turbotax

I've used Turbotax (Tx) for more years than I can remember and I've always loved using this software package. Tx transfers info from the previous year's taxes, which means less entry of data for me. The review process helps me get all the deductions I can claim and lower my taxes. I can't imagine going back to the old method of writing all the info down with a black pen, then having to go to the PO to stand in line, weigh the package then finally mail it with the Return Receipt Requested. Tx takes the hassle out of prep and filing.
What's great about it: Easy to prepare taxes; love the E-file

Software issues

A number of times during my use of the software, TurboTax would get into an endless "Calculating" screen that would not stop until I exited the program. Fortunately, I did not lose data because I saved the file regularly.
What's great about it: Covers everything with options to skip irrelevent steps.
What's not so great: Slow, several breakdowns (see below)
