What's great about it: Guided process. Answers to questions

Much Faster Than Doing Our Taxes Manually!

Since I started using TurboTax several years ago my life is much simpler. My husband can testify to the fact that I'm much easier to get along with when doing our taxes than I used to be when I did them manually.
What's great about it: I answer the questions and type in the figures. No multiplying on my part!
What's not so great: Sometimes the questions are a little complicated to understand.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

For years I have paid to have my taxes prepared, Turbo Tax has improved since twenty years ago (feels like it's been twenty years). The program is easy to follow, all you need to do is read.
Since retiring, my return is simpler but you have the bases covered; I could have been saving money for years.

Overall presentation and guidance allow for efficient filing.
What's great about it: Walk thru with dialog box explanations
What's not so great: Cost for TurboTax and e-filing when free tax filing is available on Internet; form 8949 explanation confusing

Calculates wrong percentage on state tax, Cost me 350.00 in penalties last year. 2015 form was the same so I got the forms and did them by hand and mailed. I suggest you double check the multipliers that Turbo Tax uses for your state.

Inferior to Prior Versions

I purchase Turbo Tax every year because it is easy to use and thorough. I have never before experienced any problems or issues with the software. But this year, the program hung multiple times, forcing me to restart and essentially review all of the information that I had previously entered to ensure that it was complete and correct. It was frustrating and unnecessarily increased the amount of time that it took to prepare my tax return.

Very Good Product

Been using Turbo Tax for years after paying a CPA to do the same thing. Easy to use with questions to walk you through the process. And help windows to give you more details if you are not sure.
What's great about it: Real easy to use. Questions with help windows.
What's not so great: Errors show up late in the process. Unable to delete some items used previously.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
