The issue I have is having to have complete trust in the software. I answer questions and input numbers where I'm told to and watch the numbers just spin at the top of the screen and I don't have a clue if the numbers coming out are correct or not. Not a comfortable feeling.
What's great about it: Importing feature of past returns
What's not so great: Everytime I turn it on it updates making changes to forms etc and I don't know what's updated and how it impacts return
Pros: I moved

Simple - better than paying a tax service!!!!

TurboTax has made my life simpler to file my taxes. Once you have all your info set-up before you start, it's like plug and play. Any info that is need from previous years, especially in the capital gains / losses and the stocks gains / losses makes it easy to track. A committed buyer and user, over 15 years in the running and until I don't have a need to file any more. Some one will have to do the last file. :-)
What's great about it: Easy to use. Been using TurboTax for over 15 years. Always able to be walked through what I need to do.
What's not so great: State file is costly. I usually owe the state, so an additional cost is not even a choice. I mail in the check.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

A Tough Year
on March 21, 2016
Posted by: AussieDog1955
It was a complicated tax year for us due to employment changes, stock sales, and a death in the family, but all the right input forms and questions were there.
What's great about it: Handled a complicated tax year.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I've used this software for several years. I got tired of paying a CPA $$$ only to have that fee swallow up so much of my refund.
What's great about it: very easy to use, program walks you through all the steps and deductions
What's not so great: would be great to have a live chat capability

We've used Turbo Tax for a few years now, but it would be nice if it included free filing for 1 state.
What's great about it: Easy, step-by-step instructions with explanations
What's not so great: It should include free filing for 1 state

Glitch in software
on March 21, 2016

After updating software, screen asks to continue to TurboTax, but it doesn't take you to the software. It closes the software and after an extensive time waiting for software to open you realize it's not gonna. You have to Re-open manually. That's my only complaint. It did this both times I updated the software. :-(
What's not so great: See below

One More Return with TurboTax
on March 21, 2016

I still love Turbo Tax and will continue to use it. It makes tax time much easier than doing taxes manually and less expensive than going to a tax service. Only issue (and I'm not sure it's a complaint) is sometimes things download from our brokerage accounts and TT wants me to change something. Putting the questionable entry in red isn't always self explanatory and requires some hit and miss attempts. Eventually, I seem to get past the questionable entry but still don't really understand it. However, once again, my taxes have been submitted and I'm pretty sure they'all be accepted as usual and I can go on with everyday life. All is good.
What's great about it: Carries forward info from prior years and compares current and prior year data
What's not so great: Sometimes, TT wants me to correct an entry and I'm just not sure what it's looking for.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
