Sure beats filling forms by pencil!

As a stubborn, very old widow lady who has filed her tax returns without help since 1942 (and never been audited or questioned), TurboTax has been a tremendous help ever since invention of the computer. Downloading brokerage accounts saves hours of matching tiny tissue paper bought slips saved perhaps for years with their sold slips, then entering each transaction in pencil on the draft tax return, checking and rechecking the arithmetic, and finally, very carefully, making a clean copy in ink to mail in to the IRS.

What's great about it: It's clear that a lot of effort went into designing this program, and it fills a tremendous need.
What's not so great: This seemed more troublesome than last year, but then, I'm a year older.

even with Minnesota not following the federal adjusted income calculations you made it quite easy to recalculate automatically with straight forward questions to get to the correct state tax fillings. With the problems in windows 10 not allowing Turbo Tax to get its updates I received a very helpful resolution from your support group in New Mexico the best customer service I have seen in many years.

1000-B forms are a bit tricky when there are hundreds of transactions. It is unclear exactly how to complete some of the information requested on the worksheet. I needed help from your staff and Bill was very patient and helpful even though it was somewhat unfamiliar territory even for him.
What's great about it: Everything was smooth and easy until...
What's not so great: I started on 1099-B information. It was unclear and I had to call.

Great program that takes the pain out of doing taxes.
What's great about it: Guided me through everything logically with easy to understand directions.
What's not so great: Not sure about the forms it said I was to send in to the government after I efiled.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

When I got to the review portion after entering ALL data by hand, the "calculating" stated flashing and did not stop. On my Mac, I only had one way out...shut down! I also got the little spinning wheel that Mac has and would not stop....another lose. The 2015 Turbo Tax has a software problem. No if's or buts. I should get a refund for having to redo all my work by hand. Oh by the way, I delete the Turbo Tax and reloaded it. I put nearly 9 hours into preparing my return that normally (with Turbo Tax) would take me 4 hours. And on top of all of this, I got a corrected copy of a 1099DIV and had to make a amended return. I made the corrections to my return and had it printed for mail. It didn't show it as a 1040X ...just a 1040. So I don't know what is going to happen with my return. Sort of losing my liking of Turbo Tax and if i'll use it again next year...right now....no
What's not so great: Turbo Tax froze up and I lost all my work

Excellent Program!

We have used TurboTax for many years. The program is easy to use and very clear in its directions. We like that information from the previous year's returns are automatically read into the present year's return. And that makes it a lot easier--less typing. We recommend TurboTax.

I have been using Turbo Tax for the last Ten (10) Years and I would never use any other software, professional accountant etc., or prepare them by hand as Turbo Tax is so easy
