My husband had always done our taxes, but he died in January after being sure that the program was loaded and I knew how to access it on his computer. I was able to complete the entire process in a weekend with a minimum of head-scratching. The Turbo Tax software was a life-saver for me. Thanks to the folks who made it so user friendly.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: A couple of questions based on investment information were not clear.

2016 Turbo is the Greatest

It was very easy to do my 2015 return. I did have all available paperwork handy. There was one time when it started telling me I had foreign country tax to input from my Fidelity account. I just skipped over that part because I had no idea what it was talking about. Other then that it was a very heart warming experience to be able to do my taxes so quickly and concise. Thank you Turbo Tax and I will see you next year for sure.
What's great about it: Very east providing you have all your paperwork handy.
What's not so great: I can not think of any execpt to reduce your additional costs.

Got it done...easily!

Doing taxes is never fun (even if you expect a refund!) but Turbo Tax makes it about as easy as possible! If I entered a wrong number or, didn't enter something the software says I should, kept my return accurately done! I like their little "pep talks" to get through the entire effort, too! The funniest (if doing your taxes is fun :-) ) was that I deliberately tried to ignore that number at the very top of the screen because I didn't want to have to suffer through with a "you get to pay" check! I must have been colorblind (I'm not!) when I got to end of federal and saw a 4 digit number thinking "I OWE THAT MUCH????" "Colorblindness" can make your heart race! But then I read the fine print ABOVE the number and exhaled a big breath that Turbo Tax had helped me get back a nice sum of money! Never occurred to me that the number being green was good while I was patiently entering numbers! Thanks, Turbo Tax!!
What's great about it: The help buttons sure come in handy!
What's not so great: Nothing!

Took a lot of patience

Last year was a lot easier for me. This year I had a difficult time getting into my files. Every time I would log in I was told that there was a id code in my Email. By the time I went to my Email and retrieved the code and got back to sign in the code was either expired or I was told it was wrong. When I finally was about ready to file I clicked on "continue" a box came up with the word "calculating" and I could not get off that page without going back and when I clicked "continue" again it was still there. I finally had to force shut down and lost all of the work I had done. Long story short, it was a very frustrating experience. Hopefully you can get verification in an easier way.
What's great about it: Instructions were very good
What's not so great: Had a difficult time getting into my files

Up until now, TurboTax has always used previous year's data to make it easier. Apparently, they don't do that anymore. Annoying.

I like the walk-through option

I have used Turbo Tax for years. I like that my family members can use it as well. Having done my initial tax returns by using a paper booklet published by the IRS I find this so much easier. With the exception of the caprices of federal legislators I know what to expect and prepare for.
What's great about it: It walks me through the options so that I can enter cover all the areas needed to file a complete tax return.
What's not so great: I wish I could enter medical expenses individually rather than total the receipts I have.

Taxes

As I prepared to e-file, I did a last minute Turbo Tax update. After updating I was unable to load my Turbo Tax. I had several error messages indicating a problem in the updated info. I ran virus scan and quarantined about 10 items, then I was able to load Turbo Tax again.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Got a virus when I updated Turbo Tax just before filing

Rocky on Completing Calculations

On some calculations, the "calculating in progress" info window did not close. Had to save the document, shutdown TurboTax and then re-open the return to continue. Calculations were done, in the reopened return.
What's great about it: Simple
What's not so great: Some calculation hang-ups
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
