part too complex

fees etc seemed too wordy. My fees are always the same every year so couldn't something be done to remember what was done the last year. thanks

Improved over last year

The overall program has been steadily improved year by year. This year was the most trouble free. The only problem was one of the later downloads would not go. Sent a message to intuit. Problem resolved in a few hours. However, a problem remains: if a download won't go, then one is unable to access and use the prior version until download will go.
What's great about it: Fewer issues than prior years
What's not so great: Downloads can be sticky
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Takes you by the hand

I use Turbo Tax every year. Fast, easy and simple to understand. The only issue I have ever encountered was this year in the "other" income section. I received income as a part-time childcare provider. There is a section on the "paper" tax form asking for name of your business, and the tax form says to leave it blank if you don't have a "business" (an official self-owned/self-employed business). However TurboTax would not allow this space to be left blank. Was a bit confusing and frustrating until I entered something, so hope it won't be a flag since I do not have an official business name.
What's great about it: Prompts cover all possibilities for each catetgory.
What's not so great: one very small glitch for self employed section
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Worked well with a couple of exceptions

The program choose to have my over payment refunded. Since it didn't give me a choice, I had to go to forms and enter the amount I wanted applied to my estimated taxes.
The program didn't allow me to chose the amount of estimated federal taxes I wanted to pay, and was much higher on the vouchers it printed than it needs to be. The state estimated taxes to be paid was correct.

Easy Tax Returns

Been using Turbo Tax (TT) to file my returns for 5 years now, and I have been a satisfied and happy customer every year. TT makes filing tax returns simple, easy and quick. I file a standard tax return, which is simple by itself, but without TT, I'd put off filing my taxes until April 14th.
What's great about it: Automated, simple, and quick tax return filing.
What's not so great: Redundant at times, but I'd rather the program responsible for my tax return be thorough.
