I Don't Dread Doing Taxes Now

I avoided using tax return software for a long time simply out of an unfounded fear of putting my information "out there". Of course I dreaded doing tax returns every year and therefore put off the process as long as possible and sat shuffling through piles of instructions and worksheets for hours on end, double checking and sweating what I may have done wrong. Now, I don't have to pick up multiple paper copies of forms so I can have a spare, or working copy. I don't have to re-enter SSN's, addresses, B-days and all the other stuff that Turbo Tax helpfully pulls forward. And my company uses ADT and my W-2 is easily loaded electronically. I don't really have that complicated of a tax situation, but I can't imagine going back to doing things by hand now.
What's great about it: Easy to follow, carries info forward to avoid re-entry year to year
What's not so great: Not a lot. Taxes themselves are the biggest problem.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Enhancement Needed

Loved the importation of external packages from banks and brokerage houses. Very simple and efficient. Saved time and improved accuracy.
I pay State and County estimated tax. The county tax entered in the Federal section did not transfer to the State tax calculation so it had to be entered manually. This in turn did NOT allow me to file state return electronically. This featurre needs to be added.
What's great about it: Import of external docs from banks and brokerages
What's not so great: County Tax transfer from Federal to State Return

Painless way to file

I hate doing taxes, especially for my whole family, but turbo tax makes it less painful to do and is well worth the investment.
What's great about it: Provides last years information, saving time in preparing return
What's not so great: I think the state return should not be an extra fee.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Works Reasonably Well

It is a good product which I have used for years. It is simple and straightforward to use. The only problem I have is e-filing the federal return and then mailing in the state return can be confusing. It required two trips through the filing process but it worked out OK in the end.
What's great about it: Systematic Approach
What's not so great: Mixed e-file/mail filing confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've been using TurboTax for years. I think it's the only tool I would purchase and recommend.
What's great about it: thorough guided check with details
What's not so great: downloading and updating the software takes awhile

I love TurboTax and feel comfortable that my return will be accurate and keep me out of trouble with the IRS. However, this year I had trouble figuring out where to go to print out my returns. I kept trying all the tabs at the top of the screen and looking at the forms and even ended up out of TurboTax and having to go back in before I found how to print the return.
What's great about it: Thorough review of all topics and easy to follow
What's not so great: It was hard to find how and where to print out the return
